The Video Game Achievement I'll Never Earn
« on: August 21, 2012, 08:54:30 PM »
I've been playing Saints Row the Third recently. In a several missions you get an achievement if you first play a particular mission one way then replay the game and select the other option. All well and god and it encourages people to keep playing the game after they initially finish it; so to my mind that's value added.

However, in one of the missions your choices are A) kill the main villain or B) rescue a captured gang-mate. The corollary is: either the villiain gets away or your fellow gang member dies.

I can't do it.

No matter how many times I've played the game I cannot bring myself to abandon a teammate. I know it's just a stupid video game but I can't do it. You never leave a battle-buddy behind.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Later in the scenario it turns out your buddy is a traitor.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

I'm glad there is no possibility of ulterior motives.

Spoilers!

I'm slowly working my way through the game but have not gotten that far yet. I'll start up the game and be like "I'm going to make some progress today" only to get distracted stealing cars and driving around   :p

Spoiler

In Guild Wars 2 one of my story missions was to choose to stop a gang from poisoning the water supply in the Human city, or save my friend from death because they believed he was a snitch.

Well, I saved the city. I let my friend die and saved thousands of people. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
