Title: Bullshit: Animal Rights Movement

Quote
Penn and Teller criticize the animal rights movement, with particular attention to the P.E.T.A. organization, and its apparent ties with the Animal Liberation Front.

I was just watching that last night, as it is one of my favorite "Bullshit" episodes.  Pretty damning and alarming info against PETA and other radical groups.  It proves what many of us have already known: PETA is hypocritical in its practices of "ethics."

What unnerved me the most was what they said about Rodney Coronado and the fact he was visiting college campuses, teaching students how to build MOLOTOV COCKTAILS in order to firebomb animal research facilities!  :mental: :thatsright:   The fact that he and another radical felt that their terrorist tactics were "compassionate" and that they actually compared themselves to such nonviolent figures like Jesus and MLK Jr. is very disturbing.  It's a good thing most colleges, including mine, have begun to keep a tighter lid on the location of their animal research labs.

"Violence and non-violence are not moral principles, they're tactics."  So much for ethics, at least in regards to acts of violence they commit.  :whatever:

And Ingrid Newkirk's connection to PETA's financial contribution to Coronado's legal defense? No surprise there!

When I first started volunteering at the zoo, somehow my name got on so many animal rights groups. I was solicited for donations from all of them. At first I was naive and would donate once in a while, but I soon learned. PETA is my least favorite group. I think they are definitely terrorists.

Many of their members don't really check out what that (and other groups) stand for. There are various groups locally that are constantly protesting our elephant program at the zoo. The keepers take such excellent care of the elies and love them like they're family. The nutjobs will call for a big protest. Most of the time it's one daffy old woman standing outside the gates handing out hate-filled literature. They want to set them free. The problem is, where are they going to go?

When kids see the animals, they grow to love them and want them to survive in their native lands. Kids aren't going to develop that love if the animals are shut off in a sanctuary with no access to the public.

PETA and its spinoffs generally don't know what in the world they're talking about. But there is one constant---they are excellent fundraisers. To get the money, they have to stir the shit to arouse people to write those checks.  :whatever:

Anyone who is interested can PM me and I will send them a copy of a venting thread that I posted in the modshop about what we have to deal with involving these a-holes due to my wifes work.

PETA is no different from Al-Qaeda. They are the Al-Qaeda of animal rights group.

I haven't figured out why they're allowed to exist in this country. Freedom of speech is fine, but it shouldn't turn into terrorist acts.
