CHICAGO (WLS) - One of Illinois' largest employers is moving forward in its search for a potential new home.
A number of states have courted Sears Holding Corp., but sources tell WLS Radio Sears executives have done site visits in Columbus, Ohio and Austin, Texas.
Sears leaders are said to have met with economic development representatives, top gubernatorial staff and area business leaders from each state who have expressed interest in the company relocating any or all of its corporate staff.
"We have received offers from a number of states and recently conducted site visits and facility tours at a pair of them," Sears spokesman Chris Braithwaite confirmed.
The source added that both locations offered desirable incentive packages and strong quality of life for Sears associates.

1. this is what has become of business in America
no loyalty to the city they have been in...

I think you mean the city they have been paying for only to be vilified and extorted for ever-increasing sums.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

A former squeeze of mine works (or used to work) out of the Sears campus in Hoffman Estates, IL. Dunno if she still works there, but I would think so.

If Sears goes away, I have no way of knowing if she'll lose her job or if they'll offer to move her to either Ohio or Texas.

BUT, for someone who's lived in Ohio, and suffered through the tax bite, I'd suggest that Sears moves to TEXAS. Austin is chock-full of moonbats, so it won't be all that weird for them there, but at least the business climate is more favorable there.

You can only say kiss our ass and go to hell just so many times until they kick your ass and move to hell voluntarily.

At the time my former squeeze worked there, she was not union likely because she was a clerical-type worker. There may have been a  union for other gigs, though. The Hoffman Estates campus is a big place.

The Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange are also considering leaving this damned state.

Abbott Laboratories will most likely leave Illinois. Our daughter works for Abbott, and she's pointed out to us a huge area of property that is owned by Abbott in Kenosha, WI. Abbott is so big in Illinois that it has its own ZIP code.
