Why we are at a crossroads in our government
« on: February 28, 2009, 06:57:29 AM »
Hi All,

This is a ten minute video and is by far the best explanation I have ever seen.  This should be required in every political science class in the country.

I think  were at that crossroads with the left turn signal blinking with the wheel cranked.  0Bama has his foot on the gas ready to blast us down the road.  There is some quote about a republic ending when people start voting to take from others to give to themselves.

Quote
We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...[we will] have no time to think, no means of calling our miss-managers to account but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers... And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for[ another]... till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery... And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression. - Thomas Jefferson

Quote
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.- Thomas Jefferson

"The state must declare the child to be the most precious treasure of the people. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation."- IBID

Hi,

Well it started with the Great Society when Johnson incentivized out of wedlock birth. It was not 15 years later that the population trends showed that the welfare society was out reproducing the working class big time and were being paid to do it.

Now they are out voting us so that should be no surprise.

Did you hear the stat that New York is a city of 8 million people and 40,000 (1/2 of 1%) are paying something like 60+% of the taxes.  Will the last taxpayer to leave New York please turn out the lights.......

9 out of 10 liberals define that as "fairness".  The other one is still looking for a dictionary.

Crossroad?  I would call it more of a railway grade crossing, with us playing the role of the stalled car in the performance.
