the military should be there, scooping up anyone they can.
we should commandeer cruise ships.
especially those poor folks that fled there after irma. can you imagine the trauma? i cant.
Yeah. That would work DUmmy.

<<<can't figure out why Big Mo would be concerned about this.
Odd; it's like franksolich being concerned about the price of soybeans in Burma.
By the way, how many people are in Puerto Rico? Two million, three million?
<<<haven't kept track.
Where does Big Mo suggest they be parked until the dust settles?

Nobody's going to leave, the place is rotten with gravy train graft and corruption, none of them want to risk losing their place at the trough.

According to the internetzweb, 3.41 million.
It would be easier for them to flip the island over and hide under it than to flee.

I'm thinking Hurricane Maria might already have plans for that.

Rep. Hank Johnson (DUmb) can sympathize. :lmao: :rotf:
From teh wikki ...
During a House Armed Services Committee hearing on March 25, 2010,m concerning the U.S. military installation on the island of Guam, Johnson said to Admiral Robert F. Willard, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, "My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize"
, to which Admiral Willard replied, "We don't anticipate that." A tipping denier!! Off with his head!

Probably, especially when the loony malaise is trying to pull you back from the abyss.

45. Naval ships are not safe in those storms, either
They go to port or sail outside the storm.
Did you know the Navy can deploy resources to move 3.5 million people in 72 hours? :lmao:

The sub I was on deliberately went through a couple of storms on the surface. Stupid civilian scientists on board couldn't keep their meals down either.

It verges on a moral trauma to find myself in agreement with a DU-member, but this is what a typhoon did to Task Force 38 in WW2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Cobra#Task_Force_38). The IJN's 4th Fleet had a similar, though less serious, encounter with a Typhoon (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4th_Fleet_(Imperial_Japanese_Navy)#The_Fourth_Fleet_incident) in 1935.
USN warships and auxiliaries don't have anything near the capacity to carry 3.4M people, but I suspect momo thinks she's recognized a Trump screw-up no one else has noticed, so she's pushing it. Or maybe she thinks evacuating PR would be analogous to evacuating Houston, and therefore the impossibility of evacuating PR proves evacuating Houston was also impossible, vindicating Houston's mayor.

79. We need George Soros and other billionaires to pay for their relocation to the US
The catch is we need them to move to swing states or congressional districts so they can actually VOTE, which they currently can't do in Puerto Rico for any significant US federal offices. Remember, they are as American and you or me, and the vast majority are progressive. If we can pay them to move and to have jobs or supplement their SNAP or other assistance, then we can guarantee a Progressive Congress and even a President next couple of elections.
 :rotf:
