My personal experience with political forums has been that boards that are filled to the gills with rules and procedures are both zero fun and full of a fair number of people who are just plain sick-in-the-head--eg, the DU. They're unable to restrain themselves, so they institute a bunch of rules and end up having everyone watching everyone else; they're low-impulse control fools who need to be controlled, not much unlike kids in school. I didn't bother posting long in those places, or staying long with them after they started going that way.
Boojatta, think of it this way: if you have a hunch you're going to tick people off with a post, you probably will. That's not necessarily a reason not to post a particular post, but unceasingly belligerent people do tend to become disliked anywhere after a while---on the Internet, in the real-world, anywhere.
