U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and other political leaders painted a vision today of Detroit developing as a Midwest cruise-ship capital thanks to a new port facility taking shape on the Detroit River.

“People are going to be able to come to Detroit across the river, up the river, down the river … just the way the first visitors did 300 years ago,” U.S. Sen. Carl Levin said.

“Everywhere I go where we see orange cones and orange barrels, we know people are working,” LaHood said.

If you're talking about control of Congress, you'd better check your sources. You're going to find that Democrats had control of the House from the mid-fifties right on up till the mid-term elections of 1994.
