The sheriff has had run ins with this lunatic 5 ****in' times, yet they didn't put him on the Fed's list in order to keep him from buyin' a gun!

The only two reasons that stupid tool would need a bodyguard is (1) he actually started working at his job against the cartels and coyotes, or (2) it turns out that Loughner's parents tried to get junior committed but the Sheriff didn't cooperate because it would have been Pima County on the hook for the bill.

His actions seem like a diversion, like he's trying to deflect everyone's attention. I bet we're going to find out this kid was on his radar and he didn't act.

Maybe the run-in's occurred on days the good Sheriff was scheduled to go on Special Keith's show as a guest to trash the Tea Party and proclaim how unconstitutional SB1070 was and just didn't have the time to do his job.

I never heard of him before yesterday. But then I don't watch msnbc. Not since the 2000 decision on Bush/gore. Watching msnbc cut to Dan Rather announce that W had won was priceless.

In both rhetoric and exterior appearances, the sheriff reminds me of your typical Tamney Hall corrupt democrat machine politician.

While I think that's true, I also think he was just being politically opportunistic to take down the TEA Partiers and not smart enough to have actually conceived that he could end up in hot water himself over his past interactions with the suspect and his family.  He really comes across like a total dumbshit that was put into office by his party machine, not like one of the guys smart enough to actually run it.
