Welcome to the nominating thread for the Top DUmmies of 2014!

This thread is posted one week early, but will be locked until circa suppertime Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 26, after which one is free to nominate and comment. 

It’s posted early so that decent and civilized people have the time to read the rules.

There is a companion nominating thread “stickied” to the top of the Sandhills forum, for use by those who don’t want lurking primitives to know what one’s saying about them.

Nominations will be accepted from Thanksgiving Eve until circa suppertime Saturday, December 6, after which this thread will be closed.

Voting for the Top Dummies will begin circa suppertime Sunday, December 7, and continue through circa suppertime Wednesday, December 17.

The rules for voting will be on that second thread, but generally, they’re the same as they were last year; private ballot only, and one’s first five choices of one’s top ten are to be ranked by the voter.

With the single exception noted below, primitives may repeat for any award.

It needs noted that this is the 10th edition of the Top DUmmies, created by the artful Mr. Wiggum at our old home way back in December 2005.

Nominations are sought for Top DUmmies of 2014, of which there will be ten winners. 

One may nominate any primitive for top DUmmiedom based upon any criteria one chooses, provided the primitive was present at least one time on Skins’s island the past year.

This means exiled primitives and dead primitive are eligible for selection, too--just so they were present at least one time on Skins’s island the past year.

The Top DUmmie of 2014 is the sans peer, the ne plus ultra, of all the awards given, but top primitives second through tenth place are nothing to sneeze at either.

Members of DU Jr., “Discussionist,” are eligible for nomination and selection too…..provided they’re also current or past members of Skins’s island.  Members solely of DU Jr. are not eligible for nomination and selection.

Nominations are solicited for the William Rivers Pitt award, the “Willie,” for the most memorable primitive of the past thirteen years, since the advent of Skins’s island on January 20, 2001.

Any primitive, dead or alive, current or former.

The “Willie” is a one-time award; previous winners are not eligible for nomination and selection.  These include: TomInTib, William Pitt, BouncyBall, nadinbrzezinski, Alan Grayson, and undergroundpanther.

Nominations are entreated for the Steven Dawes award, the “Steve,” for the primitive who made the biggest fool, the biggest ass, of himself the past year.

Nominations are requested for the Nadin Abbott award, the “nadin,” for the primitive who with the least reason thought the most of himself the past year.

Nominations are invited for the Bartholomew Scott award, the “Skippy” or the “Barry,” whichever nickname one chooses to use, for the most paranoid primitive of the past year.

The “Skippy”--or the “Barry”--replaces the Robyn McGrath award, the “Rob,” of previous years.

Nominations are asked for the Steven Senti award, the “stewert,” for the freeloadingest primitive of the past year.

This is a new award.

Nominations are summoned for the group award, for a collection of two or more primitives who proved attentionworthy the past year.

A “group” can be either a formal group, such as from one of the “little” forums on Skins’s island, or an informal group of one’s own devisement, provided one defines the “group” in some manner.

Finally, there’s an award for which no nominations are needed, last year the “CCA award,” but now re-baptized the franksolich award, as suggested by a bona fide primitive who thought the latter name would have more “cachet.”

This award is given at franksolich’s sole discretion, for the primitive franksolich thought worthy of top DUmmiedom, but who alas was overlooked by the electorate.

Nominations begin Thanksgiving Eve, November 26, and conclude on Saturday, December 6.

Voting begins Sunday, December 7, and concludes Wednesday, December 17.

Awardments are made beginning circa suppertime Christmas Eve, December 24, and given out every single day (obviously, more than one a day) through circa suppertime New Year’s Eve, December 31.

Okay, this thread is now officially open.

I'll lead off by nominating, for the group award, the Four Horsewomen of the Femapocalypse, which is generally BainsBane, redqueen, seabeyond, and boston bean, but which may include any other screeching women's-libbers on Skins's island.

These screaming banshees have six different forums on Skins's island catering to their whims, but obviously that wasn't enough, as they attempted to dominate Skins's island earlier this year.

Skins's island consists of many special-interest groups, none of which have ever received the same indulgence as the Four Horsewomen--and six forums. 

I'm sure the gay primitives, the primitives of African derivation, the free-dope primitives, the pro-terrorist primitives, the Hillaryites and Warrenites, the atheist primitives, the Israel-hating primitives, the Obamaites, the mentally-challenged primitives, the socialist primitives, the trust-fund primitives, the nadinites and anti-nadinites, the scamming primitives, the drama queens, &c., &c., &c. looked on in awe and wonder as the women's-libbers ran roughshod over them and their concerns as if they didn't matter at all.

I want to nominate NYC_SKP, otherwise known as "Skippy," for one of the ten slots for Top DUmmies of 2014, for his steadfast defense of wreckers and destroyers.

Skippy demonstrated this recently, but not as strongly and loudly as he's done in the past.  During the past year, he was magnificent whenever he got drunk and posted on Skins's island, calling for the extermination of this group of people or the liquidation of that group of people.

He tries to come across as, and gives the appearance of, a prosperous middle-aged guy recently returned from a trip to Hawaii, but it's all an act.  Skippy has a major anger inside of him, and it burns.

Skippy hasn't been posting while drunk lately, possibly because he had some brain problems and was put on pharmaceuticals.  He's smart enough to follow doctor's orders, and not suck on the bottle when he's on medications.

One hopes he gets well soon, gets off the pharmaceuticals, gets back to sucking on the bottle and posting while under its influence again.

I also want to nominate Skippy, the NYC_SKP primitive, for the Bartholomew Scott award, the "Barry" or the "Skippy," whichever monicker one wishes to use, given to the most paranoid primitive of the past year.

Skippy's been paranoid as all get-out, especially skittish about being quoted in the DUmpster, as if he's embarrassed by things he says.  He forgets that they're his words, not ours.

As usual, my Quixotesque effort to have the Greatest Primitive, Ever, recognized.....

I wish to nominate the late Chief S itting Bull, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, "Redstone," for the William Rivers Pitt award, the "Willie," given to the most-memorable primitive since the surfacing of Skins's island on January 20, 2001.

Chief S itting Bull had it all, every single one of the characteristics that defines a primitive--anger, hate, irrationality, self-pity, self-delusion, and ultimately, self-destruction.

When the Mount Rushmore of the Greatest Primitives is carved out of a granite mountainside in Vermont, the angry mug of Redstone will probably occupy the same position as George Washington on the real Mount Rushmore.

I wish to nominate Lamond, the "MrsCorpio" primitive, for the Nadin Abbott award, given the primitive who thinks the most highly of himself, his intellect, and his talents.

Rarely has a primitive thought so much of himself for so little reason; California Peggy for example has more-solid ground on which to stand, in believing she's the greatest poetess since Elizabeth Browning, than does Lamond for believing he's especially bright.

That's not cool and imo the post should have been deleted, not just hidden. I usually ride really lightly on juries, but I draw the line at risking other people's health and safety.
 
Don't forget that these are real people and there are some real head cases in cyberspace. Identifying people by their real names leaves them at physical risk to some head case. Please don't do that.

Posters haven't said who they are elsewhere. You give up your sense of anonymity when you reveal your identity. Of course I image you are a "liberal" and taking personal responsibility for your own actions is a foreign concept you. So let me offer up some very simple advice; don't reveal who you are on anonymous message boards and chances are you will remain anonymous. An even wiser choice is to use some misdirection once in a while. Btw I have seen the good ole citizens of du out people many times.

The objecting primitives on Discussionist neglected to notice that the hidden post, and this announcement here in the DUmpster, were carefully crafted so as to not reveal real-life names unless the primitive himself had done so at one time or another on Skins's island.

If they hadn't told us, how would we know what their real-life names are?

7. Erring on the side of caution

is exactly right. The people whose names were 'revealed' in the hidden post did the 'revealing' themselves; not by mistake. If you want to ban someone for typing out a name that has been spread all over cyberspace for years then the person who revealed their identity in the first place should also be banned.
 
Digging into someone's identity and posting information about them when they have never revealed themselves anywhere online is another issue.

Now, of the named awards:

The first is that of an alleged best-selling author, an alleged professional essayist, who uses his real-life name as his screen-name on Skins's island.

The second is that of a several-times candidate for public office who's given out his real-life name on Skins's island many times over the years.

The third is that of a self-published author, a professional journo and photog who uses her real-life name in stuff she puts out, and for "awards" she's been publicly given, and she's cited that as her real-life name on both Skins's island and freerepublic.

The fifth is that of a professional panhandler who uses sites where one's required to list not only one's real-life name but sometimes even one's real-life address and telephone number too (possibly as a means of cutting down on frivolous requests).

Which leaves the fourth award, the one above that.  The fourth award is obviously named for the NYC_SKP primitive, Skippy.  Skippy has never been known to reveal his real-life name on Skins's island, or through a link on Skins's island.

For lack of that information, "Bartholomew Scott" is, obviously, a made-up name; no one's been named "Bartholomew" since the Middle Ages.

Big Mo's really odd; ever since her soon-to-be-former-husband stopped mollycuddling her, catering to her very whim, doing everything he could to please her, she's no longer as hypochondrial as she used to be--in fact, she's been evolving into a picture of perfect health.

If Doc had been around in 1933, he probably would've applied for membership in the largest socialist party in Germany, just to show them that he's a regular guy.

There haven't been many around; Thanksgiving is usually the slowest day of the year for traffic on conservativecave, surpassing even Christmas Day for sluggishness.

It must have something to do with our family values, when compared with the anti-values of the primitives.

I want to nominate malice, the malaise primitive, for Top DUmmies of 2014; she's been around since, well, forever, spewing her sanctimonious malevolence on a variety of subjects, this year concentrating upon supporting murderers of those who seek peace.

malice, who lives in Jamaica, is part of the 1% down there, the uppermost crust, but whlle she constantly bemoans "inequality" in the United States and Israel, she remains utterly silent on the even greater chasm that exists where she lives.

They labeled everything as rape culture (even Sports Illustrated and comic books). Even the English language falls under their control as words like panties are now sexist and verboten.

Because of our old school tie--we were both taught by professors from Yale, Skins in New Haven and franksolich in Lincoln--I'd find it hard to write anything less than fulsome praise of my fellow alum.

However, if he's selected, like a good soldier, I'll do my duty best I can.

His pal Lord Marblehead EarlG, who didn't do a whole lot that was excitingly stupid this past year, would be lots easier; one could write a whole encyclopedia about his pompous flatulent grandiloquence.

However, Skins's pal the elusive enigmatic Elad, the brains behind the operation, would be rather difficult; he's so self-effacing I doubt I could write half a paragraph about him.
