Some background:

Earth has become chaotic during a global economic collapse, which started with a global bank tax being imposed during a global recession. During the fall the UN established some colonies as did some independent groups, like the one in the story. In 2 generations the UN colonies re-establish the United Nations Alliance under their dominance and it governs Earth, now a tyranny. The tyranny finds Solaris and decides it needs a government, which it refuses as it has always done. The people of Solaris govern themselves through voluntary associations, not a government as we know it.

While the UNA isn't as powerful as evil empires in some stories, they convince a number of worlds that Solaris is illegitimate because it has no formal government. It wants Solaris to have one so it can infiltrate it and soon have them as UNA member and then impose its laws.

The Solaris colony is sort of a "libertarian" colony. I have updated the story, its a year since the arrival now.

I don't think I did. Sounds familiar.

Just googled it.

I think I want to read it now, and see the movie.

Bill Murray as the city's mayor was good, but I can't stand Tim Robbins.  Good thing he had a very minor role.  The rest of the cast was a bunch of new people, which was good for a change.

I think I will jump ahead a generation in Solaris, after maybe another chapter. The United Nations Alliance is the whole point of the story of course.

As a reader of si-fi I must tell you that there has to be some parts of the story that we can relate to.

For instance, we can find 1,000 planets that are much like our earth, but without a moon humans and life as we know it cannot exist or breed.

Once off planet Earth human woman will have a problem with their cycle that will lead to them becoming unable to conseve,   Any water found on another planet, with out a moon will be stagnate and have no life.  Planting crops from Earth will not work as any gardener knows the time to plant is determined by our moon.

Say the planet has two moons, how will that effect humans and plants.?

Lots to think about here, how to get an artificial moon graviety into the story.

Its a first draft. Thanks for giving me ideas. Some of them disturbing.

I believe this is the reason I have been a skeptic of visits from other worlds that look like so much like us. Actually these visitors drawn from memory kind of look like a human fetus at some point of their development.

My theory is if in fact we are being visited it is by observers from OUR future.

Since this is science fiction we can allow our imagination to ignore the reality's of our knowledge to this point in time.    If the storeys people tell are a fact, then where do these things come from, not our past unless ----there are ways to get around that----not the present, but the future perhaps.?

Fancy this FGL, if we could today build a [ way back machine ] and head back in time to say 2,000 BC and and check out society in China, what precautions would we take.?

We would need protective clothing for one thing, we would have no immunity to long dead viruses, the very air would be too rich in oxygen or the reverse too full of the poisons that come from erupting volcano, the very garbage they abandoned would be crawling with microbes that would be dangerous to us.

We would need to wear hazmat suits with an air supply that our body's have been use to. The humans of that time adapted to the conditions they lived under, we wandering about without protection could not survive for long.

First thing we would need is a humane body to study, capture one and study their bowels and all internal organs.  What did they eat, what were the diseases of that day, etc.

Then the suits would protect the humans we came in contact with from OUR germs and diseases that could wipe them out.

Lots of fun thinking about the past and the future, would we perhaps butcher their farm animals to study the progression of evolution, natural or man made breeding.?

Brings to mind the farmers in the south west that reported finding some of our cattle disemboweled as if by laser 15 years ago.

You asked for ideas about science fiction, just look around you, all these mysteries here on planet Earth have a logical explanation for their time-------we just need to find an explanation that those in science have not found yet.
