SO, How Much Did This Date Cost The Taxpayers??

While millions of Americans are unemployed and hundreds of thousands more being added to the roles each month, and tens of thousands of homeowners now homeless and thousands more homeowners facing foreclosure in the coming months, the KING and QUEEN are out partying hardy on OUR money.

The drudge report has it as costing us $24,000 but I believe that figure is way low.

I want to go to New York with my sweet of heart for our Saturday date night on the 13th.

I expect all of you to contribute for the cost of private jet tickets, dinner ( he doesn't drink, but I do like a lovely martini...champagne is not necessary) and tickets to "Wicked". I know the play is sold out, but I'm sure they can be obtained with enough cash under the table so to speak.

Oh and another couple would like to go with us, but they would prefer their own jet. We do need some alone time....if you get my drift... :naughty:

Do NOT expect me to thank you....after all ....I do deserve it as I have been working so hard lately and I know that y'all will just want to do this for me, my sweet of heart, and friends.

Darn...I forgot....I need a new outfit to wear...better add a little extra.....

Sure would be nice to be able to go out on just a regualr date with Mr Flame, but it's just not in the finances right now.   I'm reminded of Marie Antoinette.."Let them eat cake".

I have to admit I prefer 0bama's treatment of his wife to the wall Bill treated Shrill.    He is, in some respects, a huge improvement.

Agreed...I cannot remember a president actually thinking he could take his wife on a date that would so blatently cost the tax payers so much...why couldn't he just pay for it all himself if he wants to take her out.  That is what the rest of us have to do.  I wonder if he worries what the rest of the world thinks about that...$24,000 for a date with his wife.  The last time I spent anything in the thousands for doing anything with my wife was 16 1/2 years ago...on our wedding night...I wrote a check for 5K to the ball room that held our wedding reception.  Who the hell does he think he is.  he is all worried about how the rest of the world sees us when it comes to our over consumption fo the worlds oil.  How does the rest of the world see us when it comes to our President wasting tax payer money?

DU says it cost us $81k but I heard on talk radio (take it with a grain of salt if you must) that it cost us $250k.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — It's not often a former U.S. president and his wife demonstrate a soft-shoe routine on a local stage, but that was an unannounced special feature that delighted a Sunday matinee audience at the Ogunquit Playhouse last weekend.

Former President George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, were among a packed house that watched Lorenzo Lamas starring in a production of the classic Broadway musical, "A Chorus Line." The audience applauded the casually dressed Bushes before the show when it was announced that the 41st president and former first lady were present, taking a private theater trip from their oceanside home at Walker's Point in Kennebunkport. They, like their fellow ticket holders, enjoyed a scintillating performance, but what came after will likely provide the most lasting memory for most spectators.

After the curtain fell, the Bushes and a small party of friends left through a side exit, but a few minutes later, the couple reappeared on stage. Playgoers had been slower than usual leaving because of a heavy rain storm that soaked the area.

As the large cast of dancers re-emerged from backstage, along with Lamas and members of the show's production staff, and gathered around the former first couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bush chatted with them and generally appeared to enjoy their unrehearsed appearance on the platform, which was spontaneously opened up and relighted for the rare moment.

Someone passed the former president one of the sparkly top hats used during the show's finale. For a moment, the ex-president just held on to the silky headgear, but when Barbara received one, she grinned and immediately put it on her head. "Forty-one" took the cue and followed suit. The audience clapped and cheered. Then George and Barbara tried some dance steps from the show as cell phone cameras flashed and more applause erupted. Mrs. Bush showed no adverse signs from recent serious surgery.

It was a matinee moment for the showbiz history books, and for "America's Foremost Summer Theatre," an even more auspicious beginning to the 2009 season.

gas-guzzling SUV's, etc.?
