When I was younger....
Juniors....clothes for those without curves.
Misses....clothes for those with curves.
Womens...clothes for women who were over-weight...NOT for "women of a certain age"...
It's still that way.
I'm rapidly approaching 60
, and if I was wearing a 20W ... I would constantly be in tears, and be seriously contemplating slicing my throat.
I have gained 60lbs since I graduated college...almost as much as what I gained when pregnant with both kids...I gained it all over, not one spot...yet I'm still wearing a 6 or an 8 in jeans or slacks. Tops are large or exlarge (it's the manufacturer's fault - tops are too small these days.
)
I'm diligently on a diet...not to get back to where I was in college because though I didn't have any type of eating disorder, my metabolism doesn't work that well these days. I will get back to a 4...at least for the tush...and it's much better for my bone structure as small-framed, light-colored eyes are at the highest risk for osteoporosis.
Because of so many people(liberals and their children) with horrendous eating habits, the governement is wanting to punish all.
If the government wants to regulate types of food...then they need to start with food stamps. Instead of giving "x" number of dollars to an individual per week/month, whatever it is....they should be giving out cards with specific things programmed into them. A certain number of gallons of milk, bread, pasta, vegetables, fruit, meats, eggs, etc. Specific foods and amounts, no alcohol allowed on it, a specific amount that is discretionary for pop, candy, and other junk food. It would certainly restrict their spending frivolously...and may even make some of them ticked enough to go out and get a job so that they can spend their "own" money.
This woman who thinks because she is almost 60, wearing a size 20W is "normal and healthy" is a perfect example, of why we see so many kids these days that are vastly overweight.
I was grocery shopping on Sunday evening. (now I will do a DU grocery paragraph). There was a father in the aisle with his two kids. The father was huge...tall and big. Looked like a linebacker for the GB Packers. But it was his kids. A boy and a girl...both appeared to be middle school age. The boy was about my height, and while not slim, was did not appear overweight. The poor girl though...bless her heart...that child had to have weighed 200lbs easy. My stomach was not as big as hers when I was 9 months pregnant! It's criminal to let a child get that overweight. To me, that is a much worse case of child abuse than a swat on the tush could ever be.
Instead of some of the other crap the government's sticking it's nose into...why don't they stick it back in the schools and fund mandatory gym class in all grades. Even in high school, I had it 4 days a week, every year. To graduate college, I had to have 4hrs of some type of physical education, which was at least 4 semester-long classes.
