Title: nads all concerned

Ah the joys of word processing...

Yup, we are having issues, so I started to look into those famous compatibitiy issues. and let me tell you, the folks at Microsoft are setting themselves for a huge egg in face moment.

Yup, DOCX starting in 2007 is not fully compatible with 2010 and the nightmares (from reviews) for 2013 are just lovely. For the non technically inclined, this means that if you save your file on DOCX 2013 your lovely version of 2007 might find itself chocking on it.

Then there are the MAC versions of it... which I have hyet to have an issue with, but some folks say they do. (And in the back end there might be a few problems with the XML format)

There is more, we are moving towards an HTML 5 world, and Microsoft is kicking and sceaming all the way to it. (What could go wrong? Remember WP files?)

I think we are at the beggining of another famous my format, nope your format, issue. And that will be just great.

In the meantime, for those folks who get a new copy of word, be prepared for issues with older versions, so word to the weary... save in older formats. (And hope for the best)

What could this mean for Microsoft though? And this is a personal opinion. Between the new OS (that looks worst than Vista... they managed) and all those issues, Corporations, their bread and butter, and Government, the other bread and butter, might be a tad shy to upgrade.

In the meantime, standards are moving forwards, whether Microsoft likes it or not... HTML5 is coming, again, whether they like it or not.

It's good to get a warning from the crazy bald dwarf that *.docx documents are a problem for older versions of MS Word.

It's been common knowledge for years, but it's still good to have that confirmed by a warning from a technically-inclined nutcase.

And no one can ever doubt that she has a problem with word processinig.

Nads, concern troll of Microsoft.

MSWord's new default document format not backwards-compatible with previous versions of MSWord?  THAT's never happened before!   :sarcasm:

*gasp* !

No never nuh-ah would Microsoft come out with a format that wasn't backwards compatible.

Hint for Nads. This is where the "Save As" option comes in handy. Ain't like she's going to be using any features that aren't supported.

I have no problem with docx documents. When I get an e-mail with one of them attached, I just delete it.

It's never caused a problem.

Being the technically inclined person that I am.

WTF DOES HTML5 HAVE TO DO WITH WORD PROCESSING???

Not much, yes there are online word processors and have been, but WTF does Microsoft care about HTML 5 for when doc and docx are the standard.  And most online word processors have a save in docx format because they know it's the ****ing standard.  HTLM 5 is what the web site is built on, it has nothing to do with the saved format of the document you stupid ****.

Please learn something.

Sorry for the french but this bitch rubs me the wrong way.  Every time I think I get used to her bullshit, I find a post like this where she thinks she knows everything, of which she knows nothing.

UX Write and HTML 5 WP for Ipad.

UX Write 1.1 will support both .docx and .odt files. You’ll be able to  edit documents created in Microsoft Word or OpenOffice.

True.

When you think about it, her constant inaccuracies and her arrogant attitude of "I know everything and I especially know more than you so you better pay attention to what I say" is really not any different from the rest of the DUmmies and most democrat politicians.

To me, one of the things that makes nadin unique is that while most democrat politicians and her fellow DUmmies primarily just display that attitude to anyone who happens to disagree with them nadin seemingly displays that attitude to everyone all of the time.

All I know is when I turn it on, it works, and if I turn it on and it DOESN'T work, I call my little brother, and trade my mechanical skills for his computer skills.   :-)

Oh Thank God.  I was wondering what the hell she was talking about.

I hate word processing software.  It's just typewriting, but that's not sexy enough so they have to tart it up with features to make your life easier.  Meanwhile, it's impossible to to just copy paste a spreadsheet into a doc.  You have dick around with it.

I wonder if there's even one person somewhere in the world who uses that stupid Microsoft paper clip.

Except maybe Sheila Jackson Lee.
