MMRV vaccines are free at clinics, and given between the ages of 1-2.

And the more the rash, the higher the fever.

We have health insurance.  Government provided.  Want to know what the docs said when we called and said we think our son (1 year old) had chicken pox?

Keep him at home.  Bring him to the ER if he gets a fever.

So tell me...  how is that any differant from the basis of this story?

Dr.'s don't usually diagnose over the phone.  If for no other reason than to CYA.  As for fever, mine always said come in or go to ER if it hits 102.

I remember 'pox parties' before the vaccine- the idea being to acquire immunity.

My son at less than 2 years of age had the chicken pox. At some later time he had the chicken pox vaccination(before starting school).....at age nine he had chicken pox again.....and never saw a doctor even though we had insurance.

As a kid I had the measles twice (if not 3 times?), mumps, chicken pox and some other stuff and never saw a doctor. My mother took care of me the old fashion way.

Why would they let a child get that high of a fever ? Insurance or not, a bathtub full of cold water and a few ice cubes can work miracles.

One of my kids gets beyond 103 and in the tub they go

Or the 'sweat it out' method.  Low grade fevers weren't treated at all.

That's the usual approach - if it doesn't break before 103 they end up in the tub, kicking and screaming. After it breaks it gets pounded with alternating Tylenol and Motrin.

We have tried to medicate it from the start but it seems to delay the inevitable - the immune system needs to cook the virus to kill it at some point.

That's horrible that a 4 year old would die like that but it should
call attention to the parent also DUmmie. But I'm sure we won't
see that, it's easier to say the country is bad.  :whatever:

This bouncy tale, if true, would not represent an indictment of our healthcare system, but it would
be a strong argument for a charge of criminal neglect against the parents.

But of course it isn't true.

A Google search of for: four year old dies chickenpox brings up at least 3 different children who died in the UK from chicken pox, and not one recent US death.  Shouldn't deaths from Chicken Pox be impossible in the UK, what with their national health care and all  ::)

I did see that.  Absolutely ridiculous.  And NHS says that they postponed his "elective" surgery because of high blood pressure, then because he was still smoking.   ::)  The DUmmies really have no idea what they are in for if we ever get National Health care here.

Sounds like the parents should be charged with child endangerment.  They were probably waiting for a bureaucrat to tell them to take the sick kid in.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Nice country we got.

Yep...we live in a country that has murdered and thrown away over 40,000,000 children since Roe v Wade.

We have spent decades telling people that lives are worth a few hundred dollars, and that it's perfectly fine to toss a few away so you can keep your money for college, or a job, or a car, or whatever you need more than a kid.

Obviously, this mindset has caught on.

Dad wanted his money more than his 4 year old.

It may take decades more before this throw-away mindset finally catches up with those that promote it...but it will catch up someday.

No, but your leper messiah is sure working hard at making sure we are.

There are so many things wrong with this so we'll take them in order:

1.  If there was any way that this child died because of no health insurance, the local media jackals would have been all over it, the socialist national networks would have been all over it, the doctors and executive staff of said hospital would have been tarred as public enemies, lawyers would be slashing each other's throats to get to the parents, and the President would have called for a national day of mourning.  So, no, health insurance has absolutely nothing to do with this, DUmbass.

2.  If the "dad" had been, oh I don't know, paying closer attention to his sick child and done something about the fever before it hit 107, then that little boy would probably still be alive.  This is assuming that you are actually telling the truth.  If anything, this child died from neglect.  You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out, DUmbass.
