Before Reagan became President we didn't have gangs or so little nobody even knew they existed.

I lived in LA in the 80's. I remember before Reagan and after Reagan. The change was shocking. The 82' recession wiped out 25% of the population. Small mom and pop factories were closed in record numbers by hostile takeovers pushed by Wall Street. By 1984 it looked like a war zone. Gangs and drugs thanks to Reagan criminalizing prescription drugs and driving the pill poppers to hard drugs totally destroyed neighborhoods. You didn't even recognized them.

So it's not surprising that the cruel and inhuman economy is causing a rise of violence again.

The press conference was worthless. I didn't hear one NEW idea. I didn't hear one thing to address the real problem. Reaganomics is still with us and it's still turning the country into a third world nightmare.

The poor need MONEY!

If I had my way I would arm all the little gang members with AK47's and drop them into Republican neighborhoods telling them to go get the money!

The problem with violence is that the people who cause it never get it.

And who is to blame for the violence? The people who voted for Ronald Reagan. The people who keep shipping our jobs overseas. Wall Street and their conservative supporters.

Until the Reagan/Milton Friedman "free market" capitalism economic model is DEAD and buried this is the way it's going to be.

The people shipping our jobs overseas are unions with unsustainable compensation packages along with the managers who agreed with them.

As for Wall Street being conservative, there are an awful lot of Wall Street tycoons who endorsed and voted for Obama.

Yes Frank.  I'm getting the impression that she is one of the more insane specimens over there.  She hasn't written a lucid comment that I've ever seen.  It's always over the top, beyond the pale.  Reagan caused the gangs?  Hmmm she lived in L.A. in the 80's.  That city was snowed in with coke then.  Maybe that's what did it to her.

I too lived in the LA basin (on and off) in the 80's.  Even in the 70's.  And in the 90's, until a few short years ago, I lived in San Diego, LA, and Orange County.

To say there was no such thing as gangs in LA until the 80's?  AYFKM?

Even as a child, I knew there were gangs, and until the "touchy-feely" attempts at "rehabilitation", they were kept in check.  But it was in the 50's, 60's and 70's that gangs in the larger cities started to really expand; think the forming of the Bloods in the late 60's and early 70's.

No, dear DUmbass, what really caused the explosion of gangs was POLITICIAL in nature--when black gangs combined with the Black Panthers and Hispanic gangs combined with LaRaza, MEChA, et al, and eventually white gangs combining with the Ayran Nation, et al, THAT, dear loser, is when you really saw the gangs explode.

They exploded in size and violence with the enormous influx of cocaine money, and the
