I've been listening to this one a lot. I can't think of a finer piece of Pop orchestration - period.

And what a strange story about the duo called Neon Philharmonic.
Tupper Saussy & Don Gant were Neon Philharmonic. They recorded this in Nashville.
Tupper Saussy was a genius, no other word for him. Southern Aristocrat, protege' of Brubeck &
Oscar Peterson, painter, author, advertising executive, anarchist playwright, right-wing tax protester,
composer of symphonies and fugitive from justice.
In this recording, Saussy is on the clav & conducting the orchestra.
He wrote and scored everything. Gant is the singer.
When Saussy's genius started to bleed into other areas of life,
Gant became a music producer. He discovered & produced Jimmy Buffet for one.
The Spring of 87, when Gant died in a boating accident, Saussy went on the lam
from the Federal Government for fourteen years. He died in 2007, within a day of the anniversary
of Gant's death. But before he died, Harper-Collins published his book on government evils.
And he has an album of songs that hasn't been widely released. But it's supposed to be amazing.
I wouldn't doubt it.
