BAGHDAD (AP) — The Pentagon said Thursday that the U.S. military has killed Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, at the direction of President Donald Trump.

An airstrike killed Soleimani, architect of Iran’s regional security apparatus, at Baghdad’s international airport Friday, Iranian state television and three Iraqi officials said, an attack that’s expected to draw severe Iranian retaliation against Israel and American interests.

Esper and Miley, no doubt per direct orders from Trump, are not ****ing around. Esper said in an off-camera conference that any attempt by this Iranian militia to overrun the embassy would run into a "buzzsaw".

It is refreshing to see this kind of resolve to defend what is American soil. Embassies are considered sovereign territory by the country that runs it. And this is not a return to the Clinton era where the embassies in Tanzania and Kenya were bombed. And, I have to say, the Beirut attack that killed 63 people resulted in more political posturing by Congress and the Reagan administration. The ultimate outrage occurred when the Beirut embassy was moved to a more "secure" location, but a car bomb blew up near this new location in 1984, killing several people.

If you're going to put an embassy in a country, by God you'd better ****ing defend it. Doing anything else sends a wrong message.
