He is not a liberal.

He is a liberal on social issues. So that makes him a liberal in my book.  :loser: :loser: :loser:

Supporting state-run healthcare is not a conservative action. QED

MA does not have state-run healthcare.

You can hate the guy, or generally not support him.  However, when you bring in massresistance as your facts to back up your opinion -- or you even allowed their cut and paste out of context bullshit to influence your decision, then that opinion is based on nonsense.

He was the governor of a uber-liberal state, so of course he had to be moderate on social issues.   The homosexuality in schools LIES, and other such ridiculousness however is not true.

I have no idea who I am supporting for president, however Romney was my governor.   He did a great job, and is a strong fiscal conservative.  Something we need on a critical level right now.

He's certainly not a conservative in the Reagan/Goldwater mold, either.

Face it, we all want to dig up Ronaldus Maxiumus and reanimate him to run again, but that ain't gonna happen.  Romney is a social liberal/fiscal conservative like a lot of Republicans these days.  Nothing wrong with that.  But, and I preface this by saying it's not FAIR, but his religion WILL be used against him

Even that's a point you can't deny, FL.  I don't like it any more than you but it is a fact.

Who do I see running next year?  Don't ask me, because at this time in 2007 the field was just as wide open.  By this time next year we'll have already voted in the NH primaries, and given the amount of time the candidates will spend here, I'll be able to give you a MUCH better impression as to who I think the nominee should and who it WILL be (note the difference.)

I hope to see all your answers, as I consider it a learning experience for me. Here is my list;

Sarah Palin
Pros: Able to rock social conservatives, able to raise money
Cons: Inexperienced, not electable according to polls

What polls ?  DU's?  She has more experience than Obama, by virtue as Governor she was required to make decisions, meet a payroll, negotiate with Big Oil, give every Alaskan taxpayer a 2k refund and lots of other accomplishments that comes with responsibility.  Read "Going Rogue", then get back to me

I hate liberalism not Mitt. However, if you want to make that twisted distinction, go for it McKay. I did not cut and paste anything, I gleamed information from the Boston Globe. If you like and think he did such a good job, you must LOVE Obamacare. Romney talks out of both sides of his mouth. I listened to his explanation of the abortion issue on youtube from his own mouth. I can tell when a politician is lying and this guy is a slick liar. I will not vote for him under any circumstances.

Don't count out Bobby Jindal just yet.  The oil well fiasco launched him into the public light where he handled himself very well.  He says he won't run, but I'm hoping he's bluffing.  He's a strong fiscal conservative that also polls very well in New Orleans, a heavily minority and democrat area.

I was rooting for him as well.  I have heard from friends in LA that he is a bit more RINO than what we hear on the outside.  Perhaps some of our LA members could clarify.

(Just going on what I have "heard", not anything I have read, or can back up.)

A perfect mindblower would be Barbour and Jindal.  But that won't happen in a brazillion years.

A perfect mindblower would be Barbour and Jindal.  But that won't happen in a brazillion years.

Jindal started out on the wrong foot 2 years ago by trading badly needed legislative reforms for a pay increase doubling the part time congress critters salaries. The bill was passed. He did not want his signature on it. So by LA law after so many days it becomes law without him signing it. The electorate was outraged. He reluctantly vetoed it. LA legislators are already at the top of the pay heap for southern states.

Louisiana has a 1.6 billion shortfall. Like most governors before him, he slashes hospitals and education. Conservative Repubs want to make deep cuts in employees. Jindal is against that. Freezes in hiring and pay raises will not get the job done.

Jindal has done a much better job than the last several governors but if you are looking for a politician that will make deep cuts in spending, you can forget Jindal.

That's disheartening about Jindal.  We don't get much news on him in this neck of the woods.  We get flooded with Rick Perryisms.

Barbour may not run either--the MSM has already floated the race card on him recently.

No, nobody knows who is going to be the front-runner in a year, but I can say this--I'm seeing a lot of Pawlenty and Romney up here in NH.

I'll keep ya'll posted.

I watched Sarah Palin's speech at the Reagan Ranch.

I'm changing my mind on her. There is no doubt she's got more charisma than the entire GOP Field & Obama, put together.

Now she's got a great quote besides,

Quote
"If history teaches us anything, it's that bad ideas are never gone for good,"

She's starting to look Presidential.

She has always looked presidential.   She has an amazing gift of connecting with people.   You can't teach that, she was born with it.

That said, she has been polarized by the media.   I have friends who are conservative leaning moderates who crack jokes about her on a regular basis.   It reads like a bouncy, but when I ask why they ridicule her they can only look at me in disbelief and make comments such as "she's an idiot."

Idiot?   my gosh, not even close.  She is a very intelligent lady.   Gifted speaker.   Supports a platform that I know they mostly agree with also.   Makes no sense right?   I usually just state that I love the emotion she elicits from people who know next to nothing about her.    The outright psychosis she sends the left to is rather delicious to watch.

She is a serious money maker for the party.  Her support of candidates is also worth serious coin on the open market.   Sarah Palin shouldn't run for president.   She should continue to be the beacon of what is right with the party.

When someone tells me she's an idiot I ask them why. Most of the time they can't think of a reason or the one they have is lame. Or they say she has no policy positions yet have never read either of her books or any of her facebook posts. Supporting another candidate or thinking someone else would be a viable candidate doesn't bother me. The thing is, in certain circles it's trendy to think she's an idiot. Generally a lot of them are the same folks who thought it was trendy to vote for Obama. Or they've adopted the stance that she's a RINO because she had to adopt the platform of John McCain when she was his VP candidate. It's kinda the way things are done. Reagan-Bush is a glaring example. She's been very clear about her positions since she got out from under McCain's coattails.

I'm calling it first. Keep your eye on John Thune. If he comes out of the gates strong, he could make a strong push for the nomination.

Well as I have said before the only two I like are Newt and Palin.  I would love to see a Newt/Palin ticket.  This would give Palin the experience she needs on a national level to run for president.

Nothing wrong with being from the north except it has some of the most f. up elitist liberal politicans in the country. I like Gov Christie. Romney is no Christie.

Romney is no Christie.

Ron Paul has a better chance than Trump which is as next to zero as you can get. One is an isolationist, and the other is a publicity hound whose policies on trade would start a trade war where no one wins.
