DemocraticUnderground.com: January 20, 2001 - January 20, 2009

Eight years and one week ago, a few pissed-off Democrats with an idea for a web forum unfurled a banner at the first inauguration of George W. Bush.

Thus, DU was born.

Thank you, Skinner. Thank you, Elad. Thank you, EarlG. Thank you, moderators. Thank you, members. Thank you, donators. Thank you, posters.

I came to DU the following May, and have been here (off and on  ) ever since.

How about you?

What brought you here?

What keeps you here?

What makes DU special for you?

We're not just a week away from a new president. We're a week away from DU's most important birthday.

Tell us your story.

And thank you again.

Now, this bonfire's really big, and features a lot of Primitives of Prominence, and long-time primitives; I'm not going to copy-and-paste, because one should, really, read it in all its flaming glory.

However:

97. Lemmesee. I was totally ****ing enraged on November 3, 2004.

I searched and protested and searched and found DU by just wanting to unite and resist. after wearing out our shoes protesting here and painting signs for protests attending meeting after meeting and other assorted stuff, I ended up here at the end of November that year. I went to DC with my son and met some grand DUers. I loved them each and every one. Not all remain which makes me totally sad, especially since we about to rock the world! I remember you and Hairy Bastid from my earliest days here. I really have relied on this place filled with fantastic people to get me through the last four sorry assed years. I have been a real bummer on some days I know, and for that I appologize, but bushitler really got to me that ****er and all his ****s too! He really has ****ed our country and for that I would hit him in the head with a shoe if I would not go to jail, because he's not worth jail when you have someone relying on you for their support. You rock too William Pitt and so does that Hairy Bastid!   to all of us here at DU!  to President Obama, his cabinet and our spanky new Congress!

Wouldn't that be 1 week shy of 8 years.......DUmmie math.....it's the new math.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

I saw that when I was still copying-and-pasting, but then figured, aw, it's just the Bostonian Drunkard, and so let it go.

Go to your profile and change it.  Unless you saved 15% by switching to Geico.  Or you just like cavemen.

It's like watching a short bus roll by with 5,000 window-lickers crammed inside.  Always good for a laugh.

lulz at the Dance, Dance Revolution game mat.
