Congratulations to nadinbrzezinski, the second of two #02 Top DUmmies of 2012!

Just as in the case of the preceding #02 top primitive, she was just one vote separated from the top spot, one lone single solitary vote.  One more vote for nadin, and she would’ve tied for it, two more votes, and she would’ve won.

Despite that nadin’s been around a while, she’s only ever appeared among the winners two times, attaining #01 Top DUmmie of 2011 and #17 Top DUmmie in 2010.

No more need be said; now, on to the Robyn McGrath award, the “Rob,” for the primitive who provided the most amusement this past year (to be revealed Sunday, December 30), and finally, for the Top DUmmie of 2012 (to be revealed Monday, December 31, New Year’s Eve).

I just checked, for the benefit of lurking primitives who think that franksolich has "clout" here.

I didn't vote for the yet-to-be-revealed #01 Top DUmmie of 2012.

I voted for:

DainBramaged, the brain-damaged cretin
demtenjeep, Pamela
grasswire, the pie-and-jam primitive
iverglas, the now-gone-away anti-gun nut
kpete, the rich bitch
LynneSin, the dropsical primitive (later changed to w8liftinglady)
MrScorpio, the dork primitive
Odin2005, the lazy chubby lad (later changed to Taverner)
Omaha Steve, the big guy
Systematic Chaos, the Las Vegas Leviathan

On the special awards, I voted for poor stupid Beth, the EFerrari primitive, for the "Willie," the big guy Omaha Steve for the "Steve," and I didn't vote for the yet-to-be-revealed winner of the "Rob."

That doesn't look like a whole lot of clout to me, especially since I was exercising all that "clout" to get the pie-and-jam primitive selected as the top primitive, and poor stupid Beth for the "Willie."

I'm glad Nads didn't win. I didn't vote, but if I had she wouldn't have been anywhere on my ballot.

Let me explain.

Alas Nads is also one of God's children, so she deserves compassion and I will show her some. She has gotten so far out there, so outrageous with her claims and "reports", as to create a mockery of herself. I hardly find her entertaining anymore. Usually I just feel bad for her. Other primitives, no doubt, say comparably outlandish things that make decent people cringe. Yet, there is a sense I get that most of them have just enough loose marbles shifting around up there they actually believe their Che loving dreams of a socialist revolution, or whatever, could come to be.

As compassionate people we don't expect those severely lacking in some way or other to compete or function with everyone else. Perhaps if there ever is a short bus award or something I may consider awarding her my vote for that.

If one carefully follows the "voting thread" (now in the DUmpster) in chronological sequence, one will see that our good friend miskie was the one who cast the deciding vote for the #01 Top DUmmie, denying your candidate the prize.

It was neck-and-neck-and-neck among the top three from the start, but seriously, the #01 Top DUmmie was always at least tied with other primitives for first.  Maybe if Taverner had dropped drugs and gotten healthy, and if nadin had dropped considerable weight and gotten healthy, one of them would've caught up.

And actually--again, from the voting thread, where votes are public--it was our good friend JakeStyle whose last-minute vote for nadin spared her the embarrassment of slipping down to third place (in which case the dork would've fallen to fourth place, given there was a good gap between nadin/Taverner and the dork).

If she only lost out by one vote I'm kind of regretting my self-imposed ban on fictional spirit-guides voting in the contest, but rules are rules. Following rules, along with not being brain dead leeches, is one of the things that separate us from the DUmmies.

Nad was definitely on my radar screen. She usually had a lot of campfires going from her thread starters, and yet was ubiquitous in her presence on other threads. She was my number one pick, so I'm happy that she did so well! (Actually, I'm more happy that a consensus agrees with me, but that's a minor point).
