Tool Bar Removal

How the hell can I remove the DVDVIDEOSOFTTV toolbar that got installed on my computer today? I've tried everything I know, even restoring the system to an earlier day.

It's really a pain in the ass, and the sites I found for help didn't work in getting rid of it.

If it's not listed in the Add/Remove Programs list, you may need to browse over to the Program Files folder and look for an uninstall executable.

To uninstall it:

Internet Explorer users

    Click the Start button and then select Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
    In the list of programs, find the DVDVideoSoftTB toolbar, select it, and click Change/Remove.


Firefox users

    In the Firefox browser menu, select Add-ons > Extensions.
    Select the DVDVideoSoftTB Community Toolbar.
    Click Remove.


Safari users

    Open the Finder application and browse to Applications.
    Scroll down to Toolbars and click on DVDVideoSoftTB.
    Double-click on “Uninstall”.
    Fill in the “User name & Password” and click the OK button.


Chrome users

    In the Google Chrome browser, go to chrome://extensions/.
    Find DVDVideoSoftTB in the list.
    Click Uninstall.

If you can't uninstall it:

    Visit the DVDVideoSoftTB Community Toolbar's download page and reinstall the toolbar.
    Restart your computer.
    Uninstall the toolbar again.

If you still experience the problem, please contact our Support Center.

Something else that might help is getting hijackthis and removing it that way.

Nothing there. I did delete the file using CCleaner, but the tool bar did was it never went away.

I suppose you could follow their suggestion and reinstall it using their package.  It should have a remove/repair option since the tool bar is already installed.

What about completing the installation and rebooting?  It should show up in the Control Panel after that.

You didn't say you were using Google Chrome. All you would have had to do is uninstall the browser and reinstall it. Another note: Do not EVER use internet explorer. It is nothing but one but security hole. Firefox would be your best option. If you still don't want to use Google Chrome.

I didn't know that Chrome even had toolbars available.  I have three lines at the top of mine, the tabs bar, the search/url bar and the favorites bar.

Yes, it does. But there are times when they are hard to remove. Most cases, all you have to do is delete the app from the browser. The toolbar he installed is a malware, so it was more difficult to get rid of.

It's still there, too. And I didn't install it. It happened once before and I was able to trash it that time. But not now.

Do you have google chrome set up to sync with google? If not save all your bookmarks from it, and then uninstall it and clean out all traces of it, reboot the computer, and then reinstall it.

IE9 picked up all my bookmarks from it already. I just didn't really like Chrome, but there are only few choices.

The guy I used to straighten this machine out (it was running slower and slower with eight Chrome pages that would not show up) has nothing good to say about Chrome or Firefox. He had the same problems I did - dropouts and failures. He's been using IE and has had no problems.

We shall see what happens.
