Barack Obama throws Joe Biden under the bus
« on: February 10, 2009, 04:11:29 AM »
Quote
Pity poor Joe Biden. His "there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong" quote is put straight to President Barack Obama during the White House press conference just now and his boss seemed to want to say: "Vice-President Who?"

As reporters started giggling, Obama came close to conceding that Biden was indeed a joke. "You know, I don't remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly."

The President went on to say that "I think what Joe may have been suggesting, although I wouldn't ascribe any numerical percentage to any of this, is that given the magnitude of the challenges that we have, any single thing that we do is going to be part of the solution, not all of the solution."

Of course, Biden wasn't saying anything of the sort - Obama knew that and all the rest of us did too.  ...

It's getting pretty messy with all those bodies under that bus.

Yeah, there ARE a lot of bodies under the bus. But Biden seems to be one that really bleongs there. What a clown.

I dont think Biden will be the VP candidate in 2012.(if obama wins) There is no way they will allow him to be the Presidential candidate in 2016. THat will be a sure fire win for the Republicans :)

Nothing is sure in politics, or out of the question merely because it's absurd or stupid.  Look at Minnesota.

If the media would cover every word of Biden's, Leno and Letterman's writers could retire. Jokes would just write themselves.

biden was training wheels.  he was picked as the vp candidate to address the "utter neophyte" weakness, and 53% of the electorate fell for it.  now, the election is over, and I assume BHO will be banishing his bonkers joe biden to obscurity.  he served his purpose, and now he has outlived his usefulness.

With all the slime that's been chunked under the bus, how in the hell does it get any traction?

When I look at Biden, I think of Dan Quayle, aka "Mr. Potatoe".

Biden is one of those politicians that, despite being banished to the basement of Blair House, will inevitably find something stupid to say. He simply can't help it. He's had a lot of practice and he's not going to quit anytime soon.

The Anointed One is certainly gritting his teeth over his piss-poor selection as Veep and he's even more regretting that Biden can't be fired/thrown permanently under the bus.

The voters put him there.

As long as The Anointed One is on the defensive, as he certainly has been of late, that bus he's driving will have slipped the clutch, dropped the transmission, and broke a tie rod. The bus still moves, but it's leaking oil all over the place.

Wonder if Biden is suddenly going to develop a health problem preventing him from fulfilling his full term as VP?

Interesting thought, but that's about as transparent as Biden's plugs are.

No, it's easier just to relegate him to the back burner after you turn the fire off. After he gets cold and coagulates, you just sort of forget about him.

Do you really think it's possible to shut Biden up?

I think he's too much of a loose cannon....

No, you can't shut him up. But you can put him on junkets to such garden spots as the Congo or Lesotho or the Ivory Coast (don't know why I'm picking on Africa) to extend the personal greetings of the president. Keep him there long enough for his anti-malarial shot to wear off, bring him home for a couple of days - long enough to unpack - then send him out again to French Guiana to investigate the desecration of the South American caiman in that country.

After six months of that kinda crap, Plugs just may bail on his own.

Nah, he actually thinks he's making a difference.  :whatever:

I always saw Biden as a steamroller that likes to throw people under the bus. Now, it's Obama's turn.

That's true in a sense, you could always very reliably pick the right course of action in foreign affairs by picking the opposite of what Biden was for.

I always saw biden as a buffoon.  a cartoon character that, through some accident of history, became a prominent figure in the senate.  someone that was tolerated only because, it was assumed, someone on his staff was holding his leash, or keeping him on his meds, or shooting him the "time to shut up" stare whenever he started to go all the way off in the weeds when speaking in public.

vice presidential timber, he is not.  he was there for only one reason;  to somewhat blunt the criticism that the dem ticket was devoid of any actual experience that could conceivably be useful for the office of president.

I think the most frightening phrase in the English language right now would be "President Joe Biden".
Even more so than "President Barack Obama"

As evidenced by his insistence on the spelling of "potato" as being "potatoe" to a bunch of school kids?  :rotf:

Tell me, what other genius works can he lay claim to? Going up against Lloyd Bentsen in the 1988 veep debate in which Quayle looked so stupid he wanted to crawl under a rock?

Here are a few more from DQ, the genius:

"What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is."

"You all look like happy campers to me. Happy campers you are, happy campers you have been, and, as far as I am concerned, happy campers you will always be."

"El Salvador is a democracy so it's not surprising that there are many voices to be heard here. Yet in my conversations with Salvadorans, I have heard a single voice."

"I believe we are on an irreversible trend toward more freedom and democracy -- but that could change."

"Verbosity leads to unclear, inarticulate things."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world."

Not exactly fair. I'm not saying that Quayle is a genius--he's not--but pick anybody, follow that person around with a mic 24/7, and he/she will say dozens of stupid things. The media was after him like they were after Palin this time around.

Fair enough.

Back in 1988, the media wasn't quite as moonbat as it is now. And Quayle gave the media plenty of ammunition largely because he came from a rich bitch family with plenty of financial and political clout.

At the tender age of 41 - by all accounts pretty much a brat - Quayle gets gussied up for the big time but instead looks like the goofball he is - and the media, being the wolf pack that they are - they don't hesitate to focus on the weak points.

Quayle was your quintessential Momma's boy who got everything he wanted - almost.

I note that Quayle did serve in the Indiana ANAG as an enlisted man, earning his law degree while doing so. He could've gone in as an officer since he already had his bachelor's but for whatever reason, opted not to.

And he was a Wunderkind, burning up the elections with ease.

But he ran into a few problems, not the least of which was running into Lloyd Bentsen - a grizzled veteran who put Quayle smack in his place.

Anyway, I suppose Dan Quayle is a nice enough guy. But I just didn't see him as veep material, much less presidential material. And his constant, never-ending gaffes just made that more and more clear as time went on.
