Donald Trump has attacked Ted Cruz roughly a billion times over the last week for having taken out loans from Citibank and Goldman Sachs. Like most everything Trump says, his attacks are short on facts and even shorter on making sense. He claims somehow that Cruz attempted to hide the loans, even though he openly disclosed them on public filings (just not the right ones).

More specifically, Trump has repeatedly reiterated the claim (at the beginning of the clip) that “they own him” because he has taken out loans from them. He’s made the nonsensical claim repeatedly that Ted Cruz can’t “protect people” from Citibank or Goldman Sachs or whoever, because he has taken out loans from them or personally guaranteed loans to his campaign from them.

I don’t know, I don’t feel like I have ever needed protection from Citibank or Goldman Sachs, but I digress. Because if that claim is true about Ted Cruz, it is also true about Donald Trump. I mean, of course it is. There is absolutely no way that a guy who has spent his life as a real estate mogul has not at one time taken out huge, major loans from every major investment bank in the country. UPDATE: A poster on twitter has pointed out that Donald Trump is “owned” by almost literally everyone according to his most recent financial disclosures. He has billions (with a “B”) of dollars of outstanding loans from virtually every major Wall Street bank, including Capital One, Deutsche Bank, ISB, UBS, and Merrill Lynch.

Citibank, in particular, played a major role in one of the Trump’s organization’s more notorious bankruptcies, when the Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City was underwater and Trump owed over $550 million on it to various creditors, with Citibank at the head. In order to restructure his debt, Trump gave Citibank and other creditors a 49% ownership interest in the hotel.

As for Goldman Sachs, Trump is himself a shareholder in Goldman Sachs, which means he has a direct financial interest in its success. One would think that would make Trump even less enthusiastic about protecting me from Goldman Sachs (whatever that means) than Cruz would.

There is essentially not a major Wall Street entity that Donald Trump or his companies have not taken out loans from or received financing from. In fact, that’s more or less his entire business model. This lengthy ABC piece details how each and every one of them has at one time been circling Trump or his companies as they have been left holding the bag for all or part of loans he took out from them.

If Ted Cruz is owned by Citibank and Goldman Sachs just because he once took out a loan from them, then what that means is that he is owned by a several fewer banks than Donald Trump is.

You finally got something right.

Trump also used the bankrupt laws to screw the banks by re-negoiaiting the casino loans. The banks did not want those properties so they reduced the amount of money that Trump was on the hook for. Nothing illegal about that, and I do not feel sorry for big banks that got bailouts. Individuals and homeowners have been known to do the same thing.

There was nothing illegal about what Cruz did either.

But that did stop Donald from being a hypocrite on this issue.

Trump is falling back on these strawman arguments claiming that the democrats will use them.

Sure he's a businessman, but several of his businesses failed. Can we really take that chance with the US?

He is a businessman, a 'wheeler and a dealer', and a negotiator.  I don't want someone who will pander to the left to get what HE wants.  He has no voting record; all we can go by is what he says.  His actions are pretty childish at times if he doesn't get his way and his insults remind me of a 3rd grader on a school playground.

I want a president with conservative values that will honor the Constitution and stand up for what is best for Americans, not wheel and deal to get ahead.  Secondly, I want a president that at least has some understanding of the ins and outs of government -- the U.S. is not a business we are a REPUBLIC.

IMHO Trump knows what to sell people in order to get them to follow him ... you know, sort of like the guy who promised everybody 'Hope and Change'.
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

The country is going to hell in a hand basket. So, let keep doing the same thing with these fake conservatives in Congress. News flash for you! Voters are tired of that crap and want a change.

If voters were not so fed up with Repubs/conservatives that were sent to Congress to repeal Obamacare, improve the economy, stop illegal immigration, etc., etc., etc., you would not hear a mention of the Trump name.

It only took a few RINOs to shut down conservatives that were elected. The RINOs have the dems on their side when needed.

Quite a few of the recently elected Repubs that ran on the repeal of Obamacare has stunk up the place. That is one reason why Trump candidacy resonates with so many voters.

Now YOU finally got something right.

There is anger -- a lot of anger. But that doesn't mean Trump has the answers either. With his childish rantings and outrageous comments (shoot somebody in Times Square? Really, Donald?) he shows himself to be the circus hawker pimping midgets and fat women.

It's just too bad that these angry Republicans, who are extremely annoyed at being sold down the river by the Republican elite class, can't see how ridiculous lining up behind Trump makes them look.

When Bush was Prez, Pisslosi, Reid and a gang of Dummiecrats would hold a press conference on the Capital steps every time they did not like what the Repubs were proposing. How many those have you seen the Repubs/conservatives do that in the last 7 years. The Repubs and quite a few conservatives sat on their @ss and did not challenge Obama. So, I dispute your assertion that it only took a few. Repubs/consersvatives are reaping those consequences.

Trump will be the Repub. nominee.

King, Cruz and others held an 8 hour long rally in 2013, in front of the Capitol, to stop the Gang of 8. Cruz was the only senator to show up and join several representatives and many members of the public. If they didn't do that, Boner and the other GOP squishes, with the Dummies, would have pushed the bill through.

Know whose wife is NOT on a leave of absence from Goldman Sachs?

Hi-5 Exactly.  Trump dominates and owns the media and he is like 'Superman' with his super hero powers to his supporters.  He can do no wrong.  I just hope he's the 'hero' that people think he is.  I sure don't see it.

I'm stuck on stupid?  Again with your personal attacks against anyone who criticizes Cruz.  AND for the record, txradioguy, YOU brought up Trump being a hypocrite for attacking Cruz on the Goldman Sachs issue, so who started this topic?  I am sure Cruz would as soon have not had it come out that his wife used to work for them or he would have been upfront about it.

If you don't like push back...quit ridiculing anyone who isn't voting for Trump.  Quit using his boilerplate bullshit as your reasoning for why he's going to save the world and take a look at some of the real and serious flaws he has as a candidate.

That is not in dispute.  Your hero Man-God Trump tried to make it an issue...YOU were harping all over it until I posted this article...then you tried to creep back in and take a shot at Cruz's wife.

Yet you're the one crying victim?

 :whatever:

Anyone who has paid attention for more than 5 minutes knows that is where his wife worked.  The Libtards tried to make an issue of it in 2014 because he chose to use his eligibility in the GS healthcare plan as spouses of GS employees are allowed to do instead of the special plan Congress approved for itself to avoid using Obamacare.

But shortly afterwards they dropped her healthcare plan at GS and enrolled in Obamacare.

The ONLY new thing you added to this was that she's on a leave of absence.

So where the **** have you been?

According to you, apparently on my knees to Trump.  Don't recall ridiculing Cruz supporters but I'm sure you believe it.  We have nothing further to discuss as far as I am concerned.

LOL! That's pretty typical when propaganda gets killed by facts.

Oh and BTW...zealots from either side of the political spectrum...deserve ridicule.
