Canned salmon is pretty nutritious.  I suggest making salmon has.  Grate some potatoes, some carrots, some onion, chop some celery and let it soak in salt water for a while.

Then drain water, grate some cheese, and start frying the potatoes.  When they start to get brown, add a half-a-can of salmon.  The bones are pretty soft and a good source of calcium.  When it is pretty close to being done, sprinkle the grated cheese and then add up to four eggs and cover on low heat until the eggs are covered.

Canned salmon has bones in it, which is why franksolich never feeds it to the cats.

Our dogs love canned salmon, better than tuna. The fish is cooked so well in the can that the bones just disintegrate upon touching. We leave the bones in. The calcium should be good for them. The larger backbone gets crushed with the fork while the smaller bones just fall apart while pulling the fish apart.

As for us eating it, well, we don't. If times called for it, we'd probably eat the croquet patties. I knew some people who would eat carp that way. I can't imagine eating a carp in any form.

Carp are extremely popular, considered fine gamefish, in the enlightened socialist countries of Europe.

I've seen the kind of water they like to live in.  No thanks.

It's pretty good right out of the can on crackers or crusty bread too.
I eat it right out of the can.

No, for that exact reason.  Also the same reason I prefer wild-caught fish over "farm" fish.

When the occasion happens that I have to chose something to eat from McDonald's, in order to remain sociable, the McFish sandwich is what I order.  It is quite good and only has about 2300 calories.

Nope--380 calories.  But it DOES have 18 grams of fat (ergo, about 170 calories from fat).  Get it without the tartar sauce and you're down to 290 calories, 80 from fat.  That's pretty darned good, actually.

ETA: Just checked.  Burger King's BK Big Fish is 640 calories, 32 grams of fat.  Then again, it's bigger than my pocket change.

But the McTardo Sauce is what makes it gooood.

Funny you should mention that, actually.  Hoki, to be precise.  And apparently we're not being good "eco-citizens", according to the NYT...

Whatever it is, it's pretty damn good. Snail darter, I think. Tastes a lot like spotted owl.
If the NYT thinks it's bad, that's good enough for me. Supersize it.

When I was living in Quebec, which is a very Catholic province, McDonald's sold a LOT of fillet of fish sandwiches on Friday's. If we went in there for lunch, easily four out of five people ordered the fish.

Ironically, they do not serve a harp seal sandwich.

Harp Seal Sandwich would make a great name for a rock band.
