bob_weaver (1000+ posts) Sat Jan-12-08 09:18 PMOriginal message How many DUers does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 16 to make flippant, cynical, slightly bitter (but admittedly funny) replies1 to move it to the Lighting Forum 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals Forum 7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 7 to put each other on Ignore because of this thread19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a Lightbulb forum, and if there is no Lightbulb forum, to petition the administrators to establish one11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 5 to claim that a lightbulb mentioned is actually a Bulb In Name Only36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 12 to compete who is first to reply with "IBTL"7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 5 to condemn earlier posters that any mention of incandescent bulbs is not eco-friendly and that you will get Al Gore on their ass3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, bolding key phrases and add "Me too" 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 3 dramatic "Goodbye DU" posts4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

PurityOfEssence (1000+ posts) Sun Jan-13-08 01:59 AMResponse to Reply #6 53. prompting 2 to snivel that they don't have the money to get proper bulbs and shouldn't be attacked because of their noble, yet excruciating poverty.
stellanoir (1000+ posts) Sun Jan-13-08 05:54 AMResponse to Original message 59. This thread is cursed. I'm lighting a candle for it.
treestar (1000+ posts) Sun Jan-13-08 03:32 PMResponse to Original message 92. 3 to complain that the subject is frivolous and should not be indulged in with all the current problems of the world going on and impeachment not on the table. 3 to argue that the corporatists are making light bulbs in China and that steals jobs from Americans2 to worry that illegal aliens are stealing the job of changing light bulbs from American citizens.5 to condemn Halliburton, et al, for making money off of light bulbs for George Bush and his cronies.6 to say we need to reduce our dependence on electricity generated by energy that requires to foreign oil that we have to steal by bombing the countries where it exists. 7 demands that Keith Olberman take up this subject.

kenfrequed (983 posts) Sun Jan-13-08 08:49 PMResponse to Reply #101 146. Meh this thread is silly anyhow Much of it castigates "the left" if you can read between the lines.Strip away the silly lightbulb canard and I think that it looks like a bitch-list. Then I looked to see if they make as many jobs at the "PC-crowd" (which is again *sigh* adopting the enemies language) as they do at the corporate/DLC crowd. Somehow it didn't match up.So yeah, a hit post disguised as a joke. But perhaps you are right after all, I think that the media ignoring the populist-progressive candidates deserves more than a sub post on a thread of a joke/hit-piece.
