Photos from my "neck of the woods."
« on: December 02, 2010, 10:58:00 PM »
Or more accurately, my half of the state.

Was just going through some pictures taken this year and thought I'd share a few.  My life takes me over quite a bit of WY and these are from a few favorite places.

Really like taking this route.  All dirt, quite a bit out of my way, but worth it.

I'm told there is good trout fishing in this creek.

Got this two days ago.

One of the kids snapped this one from sorting last month.

Thanks for looking.   :)

Ex Wife's cousin is married to the Mayor (or ex Mayor of West Yellowstone). We went there one summer. It was quite nice, but I sure don't miss the snow.

You're making me regret not applying for that job in Cody, aren't you?

Used to have a photo of the "Beware of Grizzly" sign up at the end of South Fork, below the thoroughfare for balance, NHS.

So pretty. Thanks for sharing them.

We are so lucky to live in a country with such diverse scenery and climate. Americans really do need to get out and explore the country....there's so much to see.

I agree, debk.  I've yet to see a part of this country that doesn't have beauty.

Thanks for the comments, people.  Glad you liked them.

Start with Iowa.  Flat.  BORING.  Treeless.  Very similar to Kansas in that regard.

IOW, not much different than Gillette.  (Yes, I lived there.)

Seeing those pics reminds me of when I was in Soda/Montpelier, Green River/Rock Springs.  Yellowstone and Jackson Hole were a couple of hours away.

Not true about Iowa.

I lived there from just before starting 3rd grade until just before starting 9th. Then for 3 yrs after college, across the river in Omaha, making several trips over to DesMoines over the years.

Yes, it's cold in the winter. But a crisp sunny bue sky winter morning, with deep powdered snow and fifteen foot drifts is beautiful. Not fun to drive in, or work in, or shovel snow....but to go play in? It's great!

Spring morning with lilacs and tulips blooming after a nice rain? It's good, too.

Every state in the country....has something good. Sometimes, it's just harder to find....

I like parts that I've seen of Iowa.  Figure that's as far east as I could live anymore.
