Dell Inspiron Mini 9 or Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Mini
« on: November 12, 2008, 07:43:37 PM »
This will be a Xmas present from the hubby.  We love our Dells, but I'm seeing lots of great reviews for the Acer which has about 6 hour battery life!

Any experience with either one of these gadgets?

Dells are great.  and they are very reliable.  we have about 600 of them at work.  things change in the technology world, though, but I wouldn't go with acer.  I would consider MPC.  they have these great all-in-one desktops now . . .

I hadn't check this one out.  Too late now; I couldn't wait and I put my order in already.

I was thinking that too originally.  Consumer Reports had recommended some of Acer's computers and I didn't have much trouble getting through to Acer's customer service.  I don't believe Acer's customer service is 24/7 like Dell.

I took a look at the Acer Aspire One at a local Radio Shack and in addition to their battery being longer, I liked the keyboard better than the Dell.  Some of the Dell's keys are sized smaller and placed differently than usual Qwerty keyboard.

I took a bit of a chance, but it looked like I would be getting a bigger bang for my buck.  I was disappointed that some of the features on the Dell Mini 9 was not on the same level as the Acer Aspire.  I should be getting it shipped to me this week.  I hope I made the right decision.  I will provide a review if anyone is interested.

I will be in the market for another desktop and I'm sure it will be a Dell.
