Republican Daniel Rickenmann, a businessman and Columbia city council member, defeated Democrat Tameika Isaac Devine 52% to 48% on Tuesday night in Columbia, which sits in a county that President Biden carried by almost 40 points in 2020.

Obama, according to Washington Free Beacon, released an audio message in support of Devine. The former president carried the city’s county by 29 points in 2008 and 33 points in 2012.

Daniel Rickenmann is elected mayor of Columbia. It is a city that is historically Democratic.

Hold tight on the celebrations.  I'm sure a few boxes of "found" ballots will surface in the next day that are all marked for the democrat..

Four percentage point difference is kinda hard to make up by cheating, even though the Dems are masters at it.

I'm guessing potent local issue(s) drove the outcome. Anybody know what that/those issues might be? If it's CRT (A turd by any other name ...), my guess is that a substantial % - maybe a minority, maybe a majority - of blacks "get" that people should not be judged by the color of their skin, as well as most whites.
