Democrats could not get their election bill passed through the Senate.
The Senate voted 49-51 to block the bill β 60 votes were needed.
Senate Republicans blocked the voting rights legislation, likely triggering Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to move forward with changing Senate filibuster rules.
The motion to move forward with ending debate and taking a vote on the bill, Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, failed in the Senate by 51-49. Sen. Schumer joined Republicans βin order to enter a motion to reconsider the vote,β according to the Senate Press Gallery.
The Democrats are now set to move on the filibuster.
However, without the support of Dem Senators Manchin and Sinema this will fail as well.

NEW: Senate Republicans block the Freedom to Vote John Lewis Act from advancing 49-51 (required 60 votes to pass).
Sens. Manchin and Sinema voted Yes, but Sen. Schumer changed his vote to No to allow another vote to take place.
Democrats will now move to change rules.
My goodness. Romney voted against it.

We blocked everything.
They're done. And Brandon just dumped a giant turd in their lap.

Chuckles knew neither the voting-Federalization bill nor the filibuster rule change could pass. Why did he try and get those twin failures on the record? Are Chuckles, Brandon, and Kammie so deluded that they :stoner: -fantasize that they can hammer the Rs with these votes? I don't think many R voters will flip over these failures, and I suspect some D voters will.
:o Have Chuckles, Brandon, and Kammie become political zombies searching for a political brain? :o

The unsatisfying answer is that Shroomer knew the media wouldn't criticize him. Maybe something external was supposed to materialize, but didn't. History now records that a bill named after John Lewis flopped.

Media accolades don't even rise to the level of a Pyrrhic Victory, but one of my greater faults of late is over-estimating Dems' intelligence.

^^^This.
Nobody ever accused Chuck the Schmuck as being even halfway intelligent. He certainly doesn't stack up against Harry Reid, who WAS halfway intelligent and maybe a whisker more.
