People are not leaving California because of High Taxes, it's High Cost of Living
People leave California because of the high cost of living and more specifically the cost of housing . If you are paying high taxes , the more you pay the more you make and you can afford to live here.
It's not taxes that are making it difficult to afford housing .
And things like the high costs of houses, high rents is because of capitalism in the state.

I am limited on resources when it comes to posting but a trip to this thread is worth the time. I don't think the author got the response sought. But then, who really knows the thoughts sought by a high post DUmmy. :drunksailor:

They can rationalize all they want to, but I had good reason to pack the tanks at the Arizona border. They have fees for everything, huge amounts of consumer goods are prohibited or have to be specially built to sell there. If it wasn't for the geographic location and weather, the whole state would've been abandoned years ago

In matters like this, anytime you see, "the reason," you know what follows is incomplete at best. High housing prices are a reason people are leaving or staying away from CA. High taxes are a reason. Hostility to business is a reason. An out-of-control regulatory state is a reason.
That paragraph could be repeated, substituting "businesses" for "people".
And, contrary to the DU-Moron's claim, the main reason for CA's high housing prices is government-caused shortage - regs and fees and restrictions. CA decided to stick it to the "rich" developers, and they slowed or stopped developing.

Interesting thread. A bunch of liberals complaining that they, or someone they know, has left California because they can’t afford their liberal paradise. And yet none of them can seem to connect the dots.

Dummy... it is so simple that a cave man could understand it... which means you don't so I will explain.
It all boils down to supply and demand. In this case demand far outstrips supply. Hence the high prices. As long as someone will pay for it, the price will stay that way.
Now the reasons that supply is low could be one, several or many. Regulations, illegals, high property taxes, etc. One can debate the reasons the supply is low, one cannot debate the fact that supply is low.
Now dummie.... here is the lesson for you. If true capitalism was allowed in mexifornia, then all other things being equal, construction companies would be making a fortune building houses.** For some reason they are not. Find out that reason and there you will have your answer. Capitalism has nothing to do with it.
**at least until the price cames down to the point that they couldn't turn a profit doing it.

I live in moonbat central. The very heart of the beast of totalitarianism in KKKalifornia. It is the regulations that kill housing and all other products.
For instance; they were building a house down the street. It took over 14 months to get the plans approved mostly because we are under 8 different politburos where we live. So the owners got approval from all of them for an ugoodly amount of nearly $25K, and of course the $/sq. ft is huge because gas to get materials to site, materials because of regulations, have to pay higher labor because of taxes and regulations. So the house is finally built and ready for move in. Then the city tells them they have to tear up the approved driveway because the leftists kooks in city government came up with the regulation to have a permeable driveway and not concrete. Oh the kicker, they had to go back through the 8 politburos to get the change demanded approved for like $4500 and of course that takes time... 4 months. Then takes weeks for taking old concrete driveway out putting new permeable driveway in before they get the final and can move in.
Shit like that is why it costs so much for housing.... Forgot to mention the driveway was about 9 feet by 50 ft long. I dooubt it will contribute much to the groundwater supply but it felt good for our betters and applied maximum pain to decent and civilized people.

There's a guy in SF who's been trying for a couple of years to replace an old laundromat he owns with a moderate multi-story apartment building. He's been jumping through multiple agencies hoops, fighting frivolous claims the laundromat is some sort of historical structure ... basically he's been going through permits and bureaucrats and NIMBYs Hell.

Someone needs to inform the DUmbass that the high taxes we're forced to pay by the "benevolent dictatorship" of the Democrats running California are a part of the high cost of living in California.
