Two Census Bureau managers fired
« on: June 28, 2010, 02:19:32 PM »
Two Census Bureau managers from a Brooklyn  field office were fired after their bosses found they faked household surveys to meet deadlines, the Daily News learned.

Instead of pounding the pavement and knocking on doors, the corner-cutting people-counters mined the phone book and Internet to make up answers to questionnaires, regional director Tony Farthing said.

The managers - turned in by whistleblower employees - were caught last week. Now, at least 10,000 surveys need to be done or redone, officials said.

Oh yeah, this census by "the One's" admin is really going to give us a good idea on how to re-structure the HOR!

But their votes will still count, right?
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

It is a positive that the employees blew the whistle on these scumbags, though.

On edit - also a pretty good demonstration that firing Federal employees is not impossible at all, you just have to have your ducks in a row to do it.  From talking to corporate people, it's probably a lot easier to fire a civil service employee for cause than a UAW or Teamster employee in heavy industry, you apparently can't get rid of those mf'ers until the union itself gets tired of them, no matter what they get caught doing.

Even in the article there was a ton of details, which tells me there was incontrovertible evidence of documentational fraud. That should be enough to get any manager fired, even in the freakin' gummint.

What I've seen in non-union corporations is a real hesitancy to fire people because of the fear of litigation. It takes documentation out the ass to make it happen - the lawyers have to be satisfied that it's an open-and-shut case to stave off any threat of litigation. Otherwise, it's more "counseling" and some such.

The days where people are just shitcanned a la George Jetson's Mr. Beasley "You're FIRED!" are pretty much over. The duffle bag drag is a planned affair anymore.
