Correct if I'm wrong, didn't Gordos crew replace JJs towards the end of last season at least for one race?

No, Jr.s traded with Gordon. and Kahne (well Mark Martins) traded with Jimmie Johnson. And it was a permanent change.

With how bad it is going for Gordon. It goes to show you that the crew makes up a big portion of the drivers success.
