I am more than impressed! :cheersmate:

I have Verizon FIOS with a 500/500Mbps internet connection and thought my speeds were pretty good.
(I did have the 940/880Mbps connection because Verizon gave us a trial run!)

I didn't keep the higher speeds because we are short on money as it is and $80.00 a month ... just for the internet connection is more than we want to pay.

What I am so impressed with is Cloudflare's new tool called 1.1.1.1

Even with the better than average connection that I have, pages would still tend to load slower than I liked.

After changing my DNS settings to Cloudflare's recommendations, I am zipping along!

Pages load instantly!

The tool reportedly erases browsing histories after 24 hours and allows for ultra fast internet speeds

Cloudflare has released a free website performance and security tool called 1.1.1.1., billed as “the fastest, privacy-first consumer DNS service.”

At a time when prying eyes seem to be popping up everywhere, hackers are having field days, and the net neutrality rules are being tossed aside by the Trump administration, having someone ride in on a white horse might just be the answer consumers were looking for.

Cloudflare plans to stake its reputation on the promise that 1.1.1.1.  will be “the internet’s fastest, privacy-first consumer DNS service.” The company vows to wipe clean all logs of DNS queries within 24 hours.

I switched my DNS to 1.1.1.1 a few weeks ago and also switch to the Brave browser https://brave.com/ and for more secure browsing and less pop-up ads.

No cable on my street. So, I'm at the mercy of DSL provided my Windstream. Windstream has the lowest approval rating possible. Most reviews begin with "I gave 1 star because I couldn't enter "0". I'm seriously jealous of any who has a cable connection. In fact I'm starting to feel like a victim. It just ain't right!
Where's my white privilege?

How would that internet connection work if you used it to watch tv and movies on Hulu on a regular computer? Would they be smooth or choppy?

I downloaded Brave last night. Even with my pathetic DSL it seems to have helped.. It must streamline something on the machine itself. But, so far I think it is faster. (a relative term).

  • I will not comply with a socialist government.
1.1.1.1 is a solid service.  Quad 9 (9.9.9.9) is probably a little more secure, but some (very problems) with name resolution and speed.  I settled on 1.1.1.1 for the time being.

And as a side note, of all the VPN services out there, I use SurfShark
The pendulum must eventually swing the other way.  We have been pushed so far to the left, that when the breaking point arrives, we will swing harder and faster to the right than ever before.  It's only a matter of time.  It's unavoidable. It's just simple physics.
