Indicator Number One: I am told that one Democratic strategist, helping a television network with Election Night analysis, just declared that the Democrats were experiencing something on par with mass murder. The GOP counterpart looked at the same numbers and concluded the Democrats are, so far, not getting the urban turnout they need; suburban and rural areas are seeing big turnouts.

Indicator Number Two: One Republican who is seeing early indicators in Florida says, “If this holds, we win everything.”

I remain guardedly optimistic.

Okay, I’m posting this with the insistence that everybody understand this for what it is: An exit poll, conducted by a college-associated polling institute (Muhlenberg), done from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. this morning in Pennsylvania:

Turnout: 47 percent Republican, 47 percent Democrat, 6 percent independent.

Senate: Pat Toomey (R) 51 percent, Joe Sestak (D) 47 percent

Governor: Tom Corbett (R) 55 percent, Dan Onorato (D) 43 percent

15th congressional fistrict: Charlie Dent (R) 53 percent, John Callahan (D) 42 percent

Obviously, things can change in the midday, afternoon and evening votes . . .

Now, this comment is funny:

A supermarket I frequent in mid-Fairfield County, CT is giving out free Italian bread this afternoon to anyone showing their "I Voted" sticker. As you can imagine, it's a pretty blue county (in more ways than one today) and the table of loaves looked pretty untouched.

(I can't help wonder if they were making a statement about bread lines...)

Barney Frank May be in Trouble: Massachusetts Turnout High

Republican Charles Baker's campaign to spur Governor Deval Patrick (D) from office might have reason to celebrate before the polls close at eight o'clock.

Incumbent Barney Frank may suffer if the Republican voters also turn out just like earlier this year in the Scott Brown election. Brown received 53% in all of Massachusetts and took the 4th Congressional District. If Sean Bielat can turn out a significant number of voters, he may be the next Congressman from that district.

After all, Frank had to have Bill Clinton come in and campaign for him and Bielat has been pushing very hard, perhaps bringing this to the wire.

The Big Zero must not be a baseball fan.

Quote
Amid beer and champagne flowing in the clubhouse of the San Francisco Giants late Monday, one thing was missing.

The president. Not the president of the ball club. The President of the United States.

Giants players and personnel thought they'd hear from President Barack Obama by telephone after San Francisco beat the Texas Rangers 3-1 in Game 5 to capture its first World Series title since 1954.

But Giants spokeswoman Staci Slaughter tells KNTV they have yet to take that call.

Slaughter says team personnel gave the White House the private line into manager Bruce Bochy's office, as well as other numbers for Obama to get in touch — but so far, nothing.

This sounds like an opportune time to open a debtors prison in this country.

Totally off topic, but is Sarah Palin wearing a wig?    She usually has gorgeous hair, but this looks fake to me.

Sorry, but it is distracting.
