We are all suffering the effects of "WMD Syndrome".

It is now apparent (as it has always been most of us) that "Weapons of Mass Destruction" were simply too useful to the selling of the Iraq war not to be invented. In the Rovian logic of the day, they were created by the simple announcement and subsequent assumption that they existed. The color-coded "Threat Assessment Level" soon followed and some people concluded that "bat shit crazy" was kinda cool. WMD Syndrome was born.

It was relatively simple thereafter for craven thugs to sell anything to a large swathe of the American public.

Build a wall between the US and Mexico? No problem---just say it.

Mexico will pay for the wall? Simply announce it.

Repeal Obamacare "on day one"? Piece of cake---shout it out to the mob.

"Promises Made - Promises Kept!" (no, REALLY!) Make lots of signs.

It would be tragic enough if the minority afflicted with "WMDS" was some obscure fringe that we could pity. The real tragedy is that they now control all three branches of our government.

Yeah, I don't think this could help the OP have a point:

I think DUpipo is trying to say that everything the Republicans, starting with the claim of WMDs in Iraq, has been manufactured out of whole cloth without evidence.  Personally, I believe that their requirement for evidence for all things not Blasey-Ford is disingenuous at best and dangerous at worst.
