A guest speaker recited Proverbs 21:1 today in church:
The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases. (NLT)
The preacher noted, "God's hand is on the fate of nations."
As I've struggled to understand why the good people of this country would elect a man like Barrack Obama to lead us, I took great solace in this verse and the preacher's comments.
Before the election, I went to a community prayer meeting at our state's capitol. I felt at peace at that time because I truly felt that, whatever the outcome, God's will would be done.
Obviously, my will and the Lord's will were not gelling on this particular matter.
I tend to forget about God's sovereignty as a I read about the latest destructive action taken by Obama or Congress's intent to screw future generations.
I'm comforted in the fact that, no matter how hard Obama tries, he can't escape God. He is still in charge and He knows exactly what He is doing, even if we can't see it or understand it. He is still in control.
Our needs will be met in these difficult times. God never abandons His children.
