Something that was said in church this morning...
« on: February 08, 2009, 12:03:15 PM »
A guest speaker recited Proverbs 21:1 today in church:

The king's heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases. (NLT)

The preacher noted, "God's hand is on the fate of nations."

As I've struggled to understand why the good people of this country would elect a man like Barrack Obama to lead us, I took great solace in this verse and the preacher's comments.

Before the election, I went to a community prayer meeting at our state's capitol. I felt at peace at that time because I truly felt that, whatever the outcome, God's will would be done.

Obviously, my will and the Lord's will were not gelling on this particular matter.  :-)

I tend to forget about God's sovereignty as a I read about the latest destructive action taken by Obama or Congress's intent to screw future generations.

I'm comforted in the fact that, no matter how hard Obama tries, he can't escape God. He is still in charge and He knows exactly what He is doing, even if we can't see it or understand it. He is still in control.

Our needs will be met in these difficult times. God never abandons His children.

Sometimes the moral of the story is: Man cannot make earth how then can he make Heaven?

Of course that never stops fools from trying.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Our Victory in Christ

Romans 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;

27 and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;

30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

Our time and God's time aren't the same. I have learned this many times over. It says in the end God and his children will win the battle. Having faith and hope makes it less severe.
There will always be "Battles" to fight.

God sometime s chastises people by sending them crummy leaders (Isaiah 3). I hope we benefit from the lesson God is sending us. But maybe we won't.
