Today, my husband is in the flood damaged area
in the western part of our county, with members of my local Rotary club. They're helping a fellow Rotarian and her neighbors who were, once again, flooded by a hurricane.

We don't know if this woman or her neighbors are Republicans or Democrats or indifferent, though we can assume they are Rs, since this is a very red county.

He doesn't care, he just wants to help. Why? Because, as a true "bleeding heart liberal," he has a desire to help people in need.

I just wanted to post this as an alternative to the several OPs insisting that the South got what it deserved and offering no sympathy to any of us who live here. I thought we, as Democrats, were better than that.

How mcar could post >43K DU-posts - seeing years of DU-folks' posts about cutting off family and friends and turding in Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, etc. punchbowls - and harbor the emphasized illusion eludes me. Partisan hatred has been at DU's heart since January 2001.

Better than that?!? It's exactly that type of "got what they deserved" and "no sympathy" disposition that defines Democrats.

So does that mean he’s also helping black republicans and even Jews?

"Bleeding heart liberals" like to give away other people's money via government taxation. It has nothing to do with volunteering one's own time and effort to help others.

Sorry nope. That is exactly who you collection of sub 90IQers are exactly. Vicious, jealous, haters.

Consider how brave mcar's husband is! He might be rubbing shoulders with who know how many volunteers from Bogey-Evangelical Christian imaginary-nationalist charities like The Salvation Army or Samaritan's Purse!

DU-folks' late-2016 and 2017 hate-posts about blue-collar and rural folk voting Trump into the WH were, well, what DU is at heart.

well that is great that someone's hubby is out helping their fellow man. That's what is expected of anyone. I however as a member of the National Guard and much later on as a person who acted as a go between for my county and the state national guard during times like this have probably put in more hours and effort then some dumb ass liberal who is going to have anywhere between 2-4 weeks of flooding. During the last round of flooding around here in Iowa we have a whole summer of flooding going on here in 2019. We had half a town of about 800 homes done in. Half of the population lost their home permanently after they took the governments handout for the flood. They couldn't rebuild after they got a check. it was as bad in 2011. Way back in 1995 we had flooding on both sides of the state, and I was out sandbagging the railroad crossing down by the Iowa Missouri state line. At that time, it was a little to late by the time my unit started work because the western side of Hamburg Iowa still ended up under water. back in 1964 my hometown and a lot of the area was hit with around 8" of rain and to this day you can still see where the water lever rose up to in the old National Guard Armory on the east side of town. It was waist deep in the building and on the eastern side of town where a local creek runs by the town. So yeah, I am sorry that the hurricane is making life miserable for people but compared to what has happen to others it's only a minor inconvenience.

It's a DUmmie.
If the truth were known, he probably donated $5.00 to a gofund relief effort and now thinks he's a major contributor to the cause.

I cited TSA and Samaritan's Purse hypothetically, but it turns out that Samaritan's Purse actually is doing relief work in the area, and the chances The Salvation Army is also there are approximately 100%.

ETA: From https://srnnews.com/christian-relief-groups-are-rushing-to-the-southeast/ :

Samaritan’s Purse is on the ground in the storm zone, as is the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Southern Baptist Relief, Convoy of Hope and the Salvation Army.

IIRC, Samaritan's Purse and the BGEA are both led by Franklin Graham.

My bet is that if this isn't just another DUmmy lie is that the "husband" is down there looting.
