Remembering a well loved DUer today
William Rivers Pitt - he died two years ago. I often wonder what he would have written about the CONvicted felon today.

You are such a drunk POS. You have to bring politics remembering someone who passed?

Something stupidly false, of course. Bank on it.

or it could have been pellucidly stupid..
Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

In other words two years of sobriety.

The worms that have been feeding on his carcass are still weaving and staggering a bit, but that's another matter entirely.

In the darkened chambers of his mind, where ink-stained thoughts dance a chaotic waltz, he, a scribe of woeful talent, wielded his quill like a drunken swordsman, besotted by the intoxicating spirits that whispered sweet nothings into his eager ears. His prose, a labyrinth of twisted phrases and fractured dreams, bore the weight of his inebriated soul, stumbling gracelessly through the hallowed halls of literature, a maestro of missteps in a symphony of disarray.

I surprised no one mentioned his most annoying trait.  Which..was..to..end..every..story..with..a..bunch..of..ellipses.  He really thought that was a powerful literary device.  Just about everyone else thought it was a mediocre writing quirk that most teenage girls grow out off in high school.  I wonder if his ninja lawyers are still looking for Frank.

I confess that I suffer from and enjoy ellipsis-itis, but good Lord, if Oopsie Daisy was emulating Pitt's writing style, Pitt would have me screaming, "Get to the point, pretentious jackass!!!"

Who among as can forget "24 business hours" before Rove (crap be upon him) is frog marched to prison?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

This reply is pretty bizarre considering the poster's (hlthe2b) history:

Quote
hlthe2b (105,295 posts)
134. To those who cannot let go of the offenses they internalized toward the end of WRP's life on this thread

I get it. I had a dear, dear friend for decades who likewise hurt a lot of people toward the end with the changes in his personality--all alcohol-related (as it was with William Rivers Pitt). When my friend passed, those who gathered at his memorial and read the notes in the funeral home memorial book were met with the ugliest comments and abuse. Some of these "former friends" even attended the memorial and did not hold back at the planned wake afterward, causing untold pain to family members and those others who felt the loss of even a truly flawed friend.

I share this very bad memory to those on this thread who have gone out of their way to do the very same. You don't hurt WRP. He's long passed. But some remember the full decades that he contributed on this forum and understand the role that alcohol had in the unfortunate changes that led to some really awful posts in later years and pain inflicted. But, I also know that his dear mother has long been a member and continues to post here and WRP had some friends still that will see this thread and will feel the compounded grief of loss with angry disdain.

I am a Democrat for many reasons, not the least that we are the party that seek to be compassionate when we know others are in pain and eschew causing more for no good reason. I'd hope we could do so here too. And, if you cannot do so, then perhaps pass by this very rare thread of remembrance?

Everyone over there knows that Will threatened to physically assault at least one female poster, and a different female poster claims he threatened her with rape.  Everyone also knows that his final banning happened because he claimed that he was going to vote for Jill Stein in 2016 because he hated Hillary so much.  Yet, hlthe2b, who's a host on both the old Hillary Clinton forum and the History of Feminism forum is giving him a pass.  Considering the fact that she and her cohosts will block anyone who has even the slightest criticism of Hillary or who dares to use the wrong word when discussing a female her defending Pitt is one of the more hypocritical things I've seen over there (and that's saying a lot).  But her hypocrisy doesn't end there.  Last year she jumped in on this thread:

Congratulations Rush!

Here's the very first reply on a thread celebrating the anniversary of Limbaugh's death:

Quote

dark humor. This fits the bill.

She ended her post with a smiley face.  So, as usual, all of their claims to be such caring and compassionate individuals is shown to be a complete lie.  They pride themselves on how outrageous they can get on their grave dancing threads.  Many of them dedicate a significant portion of their time to thinking about the deaths of various political "enemies".  When Bush or Trump dies there will be hundreds of posts cheering and high-fiving.  I don't expect similar threads on any conservative boards when Carter or Clinton pass away.  She does at least acknowledge that Pitt was a violent drunk, but even there she tries to make it sound like that was a change in behavior late in his life.  He was always a drunk asshole with mediocre writing skills.  He was tolerated as long as he was attacking the "right" politicians.  But once he started trashing Obama and Hillary he got the boot.  I do appreciate the irony of the Rush meme that she thought was so hilarious on the second anniversary of Pitt's death.  So, here's to Will :cheersmate: Two years sober.
