Have you ever visited a prostitute/escort?
The story about the incidents in Maine where they are trying to shame "johns" visiting a particular establishment got me thinking. It certainly is the "oldest profession on earth" and there seems to be no shortage of customers. I doubt very much that customers break down along political lines.

You know, some of them do make house calls.

9. If it were legal

I might. It should be legal. It could save more marriages than destroy IMO. As long as it done for fun, and maybe both partners involved.

34. Who cares?

I don't care who knows that I have had sex with hookers. I don't do that any more, but when I was young I used to screw around with hookers just for the hell of it. These days, I have friends who still work the high end.

41. I am from the Deep South, and have always referred to them that way.

I don't like the word "whores" and "prostitutes" just sounds so clinical. After all, these are real people.

The Working Ladies who are my friends refer to themselves as "hookers". And they are in the $1K/night class.

11. After my divorce I needed some female companionship.

We spent a good deal of the time just talking. But the whole experience was very therapeutic. She was a sole provider and not associated with any "pimps" or "madams".

Right.

Also, she told me I didn't need to use a condom. But I'm glad I used one anyway, because she died of AIDS a few years later.

But I have had friends who were in the business, and they are just hard working people trying to make a living like the rest of us.

Never will. However, I see no difference between it and the purchasing of pornagraphy which a consenting adult was paid to have sex to create. I also have a family member who I know prostitutes.

I don't think feminists would appreciate that argument.

Edit: That was put forth by the author of The Naked Ape and The Human Zoo. That female humans offered up their hind quarters for meat.

First time there. My brother's wife had a baby and I decided to visit them

Anyway, I saw a lot of gals walking around the more sketchy areas of town. It shocked me. I don't know their story or even if they were prostitutes.
Right.

68. Voting yes level = BRAVE.

I considered it one time.

I was propositioned by this really desperate woman who I found really attractive. I mean, just downright amazing looking. (She was in reality average, but I go for a certain type of female, and I really had heart palpitations over the whole process.) Almost did it but my conscious got the best of me. Helped her with her rent and we parted ways.

Right.

Contrary to DU opinion most 'hoes ain't Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Most are drug addicts who carry and spread diseases. If they were men they'd be breaking in to houses, doing home invasions and mugging people. I wonder how the wifes and girlfriends and boyfriends of these people would feel if the DUer brought home and infected them with AIDS or a super STD?

Also, I wonder how many marriages have been saved by visiting prostitutes? I say between zero and none.

30 day rotation at Public Health  in school did me in on any good feelings about hookers, or their Johns.

Big flap in Maine abut releasing the names of customers, over 100+ to the public as some cry buckets of tears on how this could effect the Johns home life his job and reputation, his kids will be bullied in school etc. No tears from me, if one is stopped for DUI it gets in the paper and may have the same results on family and job.

Yup effect it , a man has a family and a new born in the family and he helps change diapers and he has some disease that is just starting to grow with no symptoms  YET.  The wife or girlfriend is now in the position of catching diseases that can rend her infertile, cause blindness or later go on to reach the brain.

Worse are the Male hookers that come to public health with weird stuff that we had to photograph and send to the CDC.  This was  30 years ago I cannot imagine what all is going around out there today.

Give me horrors of having to look into the mouth of a male or female and see why they say they had pain.  Darn a French Kiss will spread what ever to anyone you kiss on the lips and on to others, just near the lips is enough to cause bad things to happen.

This is no longer a privacy issue for the Johns, they are putting their family's in risk of a horrid future.  Family's use to be informed if a member or to be member had syphilis, every one had to have a blood test before they could get a marriage license.   Some time in the 1970's the libs stopped that law, I have no idea why except to protect the privacy of the spreader.

Makes me as mad as a wet hen when I think about the pregnant woman having sex with someone that just dipped his wick in a cesspool of disease.

Vesta, Did I ever tell you about the roommate who's romantic moonlight encounter with a working girl was punctuated the next day by screams of pain on urination?  Which was probably only slightly less painful than the rap up side the head his fiancé gave him after she received a call from the health department? (the year was 1968)  Yes, they really did call her and she was none to pleased, kept the ring (antique heirloom) and wedding account.     I must say that scream on day one would have woke the dead, said it felt like razor blades!

Prostitution really ought to be legal and regulated.  Done properly, the public health problem could  be minimized and police "investigations" searching for prostitutes could be better used elsewhere.  It could require a business liscense and other regulations to keep things safe.  The government would have a new source of revenue.

It is no coincidence that the two highest post threads at our old home were about: The Danish Health Spar and The Swinging Green Door.    :naughty:

That was the BLUE DOOR, that old Joe ran, you are thinking of the 50's song Green Door.  Joe's down fall was advertising on line his Party's and giving his address to the public.   Have to remember Joe was getting old and may have put his trust in his son to help the business. His son was not so smart, a nice boy, good looking but not the sharpest knife in the draw.

Wasn't long after the scandal that Old Joe was back in the news for attacking one or his tenant's.   A true Town Charactor, one did not mess with Joe.

Naturally the Danish Spa was perhaps the worse scandal to hit our area in 100 years.   One whole town where everyone for 25+ years in town and all over New England knew about.   Talk about a liberal Town, as long as the SPA kept donating thousands of dollars to the schools, library's, and funded local polititions, kept the police in new cruisers and big Xmas bonuses to the cops, when the FBI came nosing about no one would give them the time a day.

It is a considence that the now retired Chief of police has the same name as the man up in Maine that is part of the hooker scandal.  I and others wonder if they are related.
