We just put down our 14 year old golden.
His front half was all puppy in physique and attitude, his rear quarters were failing rapidly. Incontinence, frequent whining from pain.
The process was brutal.
He was such a good dog.
The best our family has had yet.

Damn, that hurts. I know it does. Hip dysplasia sounds like. Goldens are prone to that crippling genetic defect.

It sounds like he had a good life, though, and that was your gift to him. Sincere condolences.
