Rose Bowl
Wisconsin 38, Oregon 45, final.

Damn.

You know, Oregon didn't deserve to win that game.

Wisconsin's been playing football since God was a boy; Wisconsin has history and tradition and a record.

When Oregon's played football for a few more generations and decades, Oregon'll get some respect.

But right now, Oregon's just another one of these transient media-created phenomenons, a flash in the pan.

That was an exciting game. I did not have a favorite but both teams had very good QB's

and to think I heard Desmond Howard talking on ESPN about how great Clemson's defense was.  ::)

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

He batted .500 on that one.

Don't pay attention to Herb Kirkstreit; he doesn't know excresence about college football.

Anyway, I'm a little late here, but:

Orange Bowl
West Virginia 70, Clemson 33, final.

Cotton Bowl
Kansas State 16, Arkansas 29, final.

BBVA Compass Bowl
Southern Methodist 28, Pittsburgh 6, final.

GoDaddy.com Bowl
Arkansas State 20, Northern Illinois 38, final.

BCS Championship
Alabama 21, Louisiana State 0, final.

Congratulations to the winners; for now, sports is all done with until the last week of August.

Yeah, I'm aware those exist, and that they're important to a significant number of people, although I don't know why.

But for franksolich, the only sport is college football, and once it's done for the year, no more sports happen until the end of the following August.

Yeah, I'm aware those exist, and that they're important to a significant number of people, although I don't know why.
I wish I could figure out why racing that doesn't involve any right turns or hills could interest anybody.  But that's just me.

I understand. Same's true for me with golf, tennis, basketball and that silly thing they call arena-something-or-other.

I wish I could figure out why racing that doesn't involve any right turns or hills could interest anybody.  But that's just me.

NASCAR has some road courses - with right turns and hills and all at Infineon Raceway, Watkins Glen International, Road America and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Montreal). ......... But I have to admit that my interest has diminished somewhat since the old days when Allison, Earnhardt and Elliot ruled.

The 'race on Sunday, sell on Monday' adage doesn't apply to NASCAR anymore.  It's a shame, but I think that's mostly NASCAR's fault with their Car Of Tomorrow type racing than genuine stock car stuff.

I don't know if they still do this, but British Touring  Car racing was real stock car stuff in the early 80's.  It's all over YouTube.

Not to veer this thread off course, but . . . okay, maybe I do want to veer it off course . . . did anyone catch Top Gear this morning--the segment where Jeremy Clarkson, in a Range Rover, races a Challenger II tank?  I woke my daughter up with my laughing.  What a riot.
