"Overwhelming" GOP Opposition to Stimulus Bill
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:09:30 PM »

Quote
Just talked to a very clued-in Republican on the Hill.  This person wouldn't predict a unanimous Republican vote against the Democratic stimulus package, but said there would be "minimal" GOP support of the bill. "I don't know if it will be unanimous, but Democrats are not going to have the kind of bipartisan support the president was trying to get," he told me.  An "overwhelming" number of Republicans will vote no, he predicted.

House Republicans are very happy with recent coverage of the bill, not just Drudge's "$335,000,000 for STD Prevention" headline, but also articles (like this and this) in the New York Times pointing out the enormous amount of social, non-stimulative spending in the proposal, and in the Washington Post, highlighting some Democratic qualms about the bill.  "This is finally penetrating all those headlines that said this is necessary for the economy and that it's all infrastructure and tax relief," my source told me.  "It finally gets the idea out that this is just a really, really big omnibus spending bill."

Sweetness and Light have a pretty good detailing of the Dims' spending on the monstrous 825 billion dollar package, which will take generations to pay back. Once you tear back the pretty paper the Dims' wrapped it in and gave to the American public, it's really a box full of crap.

Here's hoping that "overwhelming" becomes "full" opposition. Maybe this will be a shot in the arm that the Republicans and conservatives in Congress need right now.

Then, again . . .

It is NOT a "stimulus" bill, it is the purest of PORK! It should be named the "Vast Left Wing Porcine Spending Bill"  Which is why the Dems are DESPERATE for Rep. votes, as it will "stimulate" nothing but inflation.

If you had to ask, you already know. And I'm guessing it won't please any of us.

Finally. Hoo-rah!

In the Senate, maybe one or two Republicans will vote for it. Wonder if you-know-who will be one of those two?

Of course, my moonbat Congresscritter (Che-Porter) voted for it.

Funny, isn't it, how when her ass was on the line she voted against the original "stimulus" bill just weeks away from the election, but now that her seat is "safe", she's free to vote all sorts of socialist shit through?

I'm gonna be a pain in her side like she's never known.

I didn't realize the Dems had that much control of the house.  I thought maybe a 10-20 seat differance, not a 70 seat differance.

It's nearly as bad as the Dem majorities of the mid-70's.  And lookie what happened there.
