Board decision seen as boost to Franken's effort to overtake Coleman

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota board overseeing the U.S. Senate recount has cleared the way for counting of wrongly rejected absentee ballots in the unresolved race.

The five-member Canvassing Board has recommended that county election boards sort rejected absentees to find those improperly set aside. Then, they are advised to count them.

It's a boost to Democrat Al Franken, who has fought hard for their inclusion. Republican Sen. Norm Coleman leads Franken in unofficial tallies.

The directions are voluntary because the state board's members say they don't have the power to force counties to do it. At least 630 absentees are known to have been erroneously rejected, but state officials say it could be more than 1,500.

they are going to count increasingly questionable (invalid?) ballots until they put that ridiculous bastard in the senate.  in the end, this won't be as big a loss for republicans as it will be an embarrassment to MN.

Um...  Wait a sec.  When were these ballots ever deemed "wrongfully rejected?"

when they realized that they were franken votes.

Well, yeah, obviously.  I meant in an official capacity, though.

Each time they do this, will make them that much stronger for the next time.

Sooner or later they will be challenging 60% republican victories with the same logic.

Anyway, it worked in Washington, so it will work in Minnesota.
