"Republicans are total assholes. You don't have to argue me on that one bit."
on Fri Jan-30-09 11:27 AM by tom_paine
My REGISTERED REPUBLICAN NEIGHBOR said that to me the other day.

Early indications, while they still could prove wrong, seem to show that Obama has the political savvy and brilliance of Ben Franklin.

There has been much upset and denunciation of Obama's whole postpartisanship thing on DU, and I have been part of it. But to see results like that so rapidly in person is astonishing.

A little background: My neighbor is a moderate Republican and all the way on the other side from being a Hannidiot or a Savage Weiner. But he is a "regular guy" who gets his news from TV and newspapers exclusively, and thus is confined within the very narrow walls of the Bushie-Corporate M$M False Reality Bubble.

In other words, representative of perhaps the largest demographic in this country, those who are still 100% captive to the Bushie-M$M False Reality Bubble. But like so many in this demographic, he is a nice guy, a family man, and a fundamentally decent man who wants to do what's right. He is a damned fine person and neighbor.

But three months ago, before the election, he was still defending Republican policies. I think he voted for Obama, but VERY reluctantly and with disappointment that he was the "least of 2 evils" (I didn't directly ask - but from our conversations leading up to the election that was the indication)

And two months ago, he was congratulating me on "my guy winning" and still tepidly defending the Republicans.

But Obama's Rope-A-Dope strategy has yielded immediate effects. The other day we were chatting, and he was not only more impressed with Obama and how hard and sincerely he was trying to help the whole nation, but when I casually remarked that NOT ONE Republican had voted for the stimulus, this thread title was his reply.

In conclusion, so far things are looking very good. Not perfect, far from perfect, but if Obama's policies continue on this course of restoring our System of Checks and Balances and power to the American People (and if we will get up off our lazy asses and do our DUTY).

I wanted Obama to have shown the fight and fire of Tom Paine or John Adams (the revolutionary years, not the Federalist Years). But he has shown, at least so far - final judgments are a year or even years away, so this is a very preliminary assessment - shown that what may be called for now is not that kind of fire, but the brilliant political savvy of Ben Franklin.

Totally ****ing lame.

Zero Bongs.

Is it something in the  food they eat or what they drink or  what?

I'll say it again: LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL DISEASE. One that endangers everyone, including the unborn and just-born.
"It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ! For this very reason, peoples of other faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity and freedom of worship here." -- Patrick Henry, 1765

He only used the word "Bushie" 2 times.  Must be experiencing economic hardship and not able to produce more.

Sounds to me like he got a Democrat to agree with a moonbat.
No big surprise there.

HI5 my friend.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

If the neighbor truly is dumb enough to get all his news from the MSM, he probably does think Pres. Obama is doing just great.  Of course, he's not a Republican...and never has been.

Bushie-Corporate M$M False Reality Bubble

The above phrase in the DUmmie's post interests me greatly. This seems to be something that many of the primitives believe. I'm not really sure if this faulty belief is due to ignorance, stupidity, or delusion. It may be a combination of the three. Or it may actually be that they know the inaccuracy of the belief but still present it as if it were factual because such fabrication is expected of them at the DUmp.

Regardless, I have a challenge for the DUmmies... For the first DUmmie to register here and post links to ten (10) news articles from the mainstream media that paints President Bush in a positive light I will pay for your DU membership star thingy. I have no idea how much the star costs and doing this will cause me some financial hardship as my business is struggling in this terrible Obama economy, but it is something I am willing to do.

There are, however, some rules for the challenge. They are as follows:

1. The links to the articles must be posted here.
2. The articles must be from the mainstream media: NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, New York Times, etc (Note: FreeRupublic, CU, CC, etc. are not the mainstream media)
3. Since you seem to claim that all of the MSM is in the can for W at least one of the articles must come from NBC, at least one must come from ABC, at least one must come from CBS, at least one must come from CNN, and at least one from MSNBC.
4. The articles must fall within the dates of January 1, 2008 to November 4, 2008
5. None of the articles can be editorials from conservative commentators.
6. "In a positive light" actually means in a positive light. For instance, just because an article contains the sentence "W walked to the chopper without falling" does not mean that it meets the "in a positive light" requirement. While I am the judge of whether or not something meets the "in a positive light" requirement, I will allow my decisions to be appealed to franksolich (if he is willing).
7. This challenge ends on Friday, February 6, 2009.

$5? Whew. I was scared it was around $20 or so. Even in this terrible Obama economy I can swing $5.

SAY WHAT?....."Obama has the political savvy and brilliance of Ben Franklin."

Well, old Ben did go fly a kite once.....Obama has yet to get his off the ground.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

Oh, please.

Restoring our checks and balances with the Democrats, liberals and leftists controlling Congress, the White House and so much of the federal judiciary?

As for power to the American people?

Seems I recall that last summer/fall, when gas prices skyrocketed and polls, for whatever they are worth, showed that about 8 in 10 Americans wanted off-shore exploration and drilling for oil and natrual gas reopened -- and to have the limits not set at 50 miles offshore, but within three miles or so? -- the Democrats, liberals and leftists in Congress, led by Pelosi and Reid, refused to take action. They went home on taxpayer-paid recess.

So, power to the American people?

And this Porkulus package they've tried to camouflage as stimulus?

No, the poster meant, but lacked the testicularity and intellectual honesty to say, "power to the facists and those who'll keep the Democrats, liberals and leftists in power."
