I guess that's why it struck me that this guy is a stoner.  I know this is a stereotype, but every 44 year old construction worker that I've ever known, that wasn't a business owner or manager, was a stoner.
I know one who isn't(cowboy)...but he happens to be a crane operator too...
But I think the angry dude is a different type of construction worker....

From what you've told us about Cowboy, he is one of the very LAST people I would suspect of being a stoner.
He likes his beer...but that's it...I had a hard time gettin him to take the pain meds when he broke his ankle(he walked on it broke for a week)

Quote
I am done crying about my personal life, Unemployment, late notices, no jobs to be had, the sheer impossibility of getting unemployment are all problems that many are facing right now. Now I am just angry.

Anyone here believe he'll actually stop crying about his life? There ARE things he could do to be proactive...he COULD go help his parents because it's the RIGHT thing to do and they would be helping each other which is what families do. I think I could handle living in an "intellectually challenged" area in the short term (hell, I live in moonbat central and have most of my life and I'm pretty content), especially when there's the library, Internet, real life lefty groups (even in Alabama). Imagine the possibilities...people in mom and pop's neighborhood see the quality of his work. They need repairs, their friends need repairs, people are fixing and remodeling instead of selling right now and laws are probably not as restrictive. He could have the business he always dreamed of. He could be his own boss, travel to the intellectual capital he currently lives in on his days off.

But okay, he couldn't deal with, even for a minute, standing in line at the local redneck Quicky Mart buying cigarettes behind a good ole boy who's just dumb enough to be buying AMERICAN beer on his way home from work (have they never heard of LaBatt's or Moosehead). He needs some kind of expensive license that requires a lawyer to obtain...I've never heard of such a thing and I come from a family chock full of contractors and construction workers, but we'll take him at his word. There's STILL things he can do.

How about all those general handyman kinds of things...fixing cabinet doors, shoring up a porch, repairing a tool shed...you know, the little niggling things on the "honey do" list that need doing but there never seems to be the time. Single women and mothers often don't have a honey to do them. When you're married to government, they just don't come home on the weekend to put a new flow valve in the toilet. Little local papers and Craig'slist are great places to advertise this kind of service.

But no, it's more important to let every fricken person on the planet know how bad his life is, he's simply a victim because the way out isn't perfect, doesn't give him everything he wants. Besides, as long as it's someone else's fault HE doesn't have to be responsible. Even if someone did give him a job there would be something wrong with that. The pay would be too little. The hours would be too long. The work would be too hard. The benefits would be shit. The bonuses too small. The nails too short. The sheet rock too hard.

Even were the American people to say, "Listen little carpenter boy, we're SICK and TIRED of your tantrums. In spite of the fact that we know better, we're going to give you what you want. We'll pay you, oh say about what your average corporate fat cat earns. You haven't really done anything, but you're an American, you DESERVE it. Just pound a nail into a board here and there whenever you feel like it. Don't strain yourself. Oh, and don't worry about that silly health care nonsense. Bethesda is at your beck and call. If you have any problems, call the president, he'll take them to task!"

He'd still be complaining...not that his fellow citizens don't have what he has (doubt the plight of his fellow man would enter into it)...he'd be complaining he's not being paid extra for the nails he has to buy, or that he has to do his own shopping, or that no one is paying for a personal trainer. His health is suffering from laying around eating Cheetos and pork rinds. SOMEONE should do something. And as for those Cheetos...where the hell is the Cheetos allowance.

Delila, I'm with you.  I get tired of hearing them bellyache.  You make do with what you have and move on.  I'm a good example of that.

HS graduate

US Army Paratrooper

Water Tower builder/welder

Moved into sales

Mortgage Broker for 2 years

Real Estate Broker at present.

Anywhere along that path I could have stayed or stopped.  I chose to move on and each move has brought me more prosperity.  Each move has given me more $$$ I could pass on to help make the world a better place.  I could have been like this pissed off moron and I could've blamed it on a whole slew of folks but I chose not to.  He made his bed and he doesn't like the lumps in it.  Tuff shit, he needs to lie in it until he figures out how to fix it.  No one else should be made to fix it for him.

I'll bet he probaly owns a 16 oz. hammer, or more likely a framing hammer, a 25' tape, a nail apron and a tri-square......and thinks he's a highly skilled, union belonging, professional carpenter that won't work for less than $28 an hour plus benefits.

Come down off your high horse angrycarpenter.

Not me.  He isn't angry because he wants a job and can't get one, he's angry because he wants the world to French-kiss his ass and they won't do it.  That's not gonna change, so I predict continued irrational rage.

what an idiot.

In 2 years when a loaf of bread is $8 and unemployment is 15% I wonder if he will still blame those out of power and a guy on the radio for his troubles?
