I am so angry at the American Legion.

They have been after me to join and I did last year on being told there is nothing political involved.

I paid $400 for a yearbook and wish I could get my Monday back.

Today my Legion post, or what ever they call it, sent me chances to an NRA raffle money going to the NRA Foundation Endowment.

The prizes are 5 different rifles and a pair of binoculars.

I call up the post to complain and they said everybody gets those. I tried to give them a piece of my mind and they hung up.

I left my number and am supposed to get a call back.

I am quitting this organization immediately,

$400.00 for a what? Never heard of it.

Oh... did you MAKE a yearbook for your Legion Post (or whatever they call it...  :whatever:)
Because I am seeing not much about having to spend that amount to do it.

Part 1- Format

(1) Cover: The size of the yearbook cover must not be smaller than a standard three-ring binder or larger than

12x15 inches, with The American Legion emblem centered (left to right) on the cover with the post's name and number. Each book is not to exceed three inches between the front and back cover.

If two or more binders are submitted, you must indicate on the cover and title page the wording Volume

still not seeing $400.00 of expenses here...

AND you're bitching because the national group sent you info about a raffle? You don't have to buy a ticket, you dumb ****ing retard.

I would have hung up on you too.

2. I never cared to join. From what I have seen, all they do is sit around and drink beer and swap lies.

Yeah... it's a veteran's group. That's pretty much all they do.  :whatever:

3. I sometimes wonder if we liberals should join. With sufficient numbers we could possibly alter their right wing dipshittery.

5. Send them back cut up....I don't buy chances on guns unless its a musket.

:thatsright: That's gotta be the stupidest post on DU today.

7. This dumb draftee NEVER had a desire to join the uber-jingoistic American Legion

I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member - Groucho Marks

The old guys down at the Legion Club are probably very happy about that.

9. A few years ago

just after my Dad had died we received a Notice from the NRA claiming his dues were late.
My Dad was never an member of the NRA, In fact he hated guns and only used one in WW2.
The following week they called his house and I answered the phone.
I confronted them with that information and asked the person on the phone where they got his address and phone #.
The response was "most likely the American Legion"
I also asked why their envelopes had "Dues are Late" printed on the outside (especially when the person it was addressed to never was a member). He claimed "Many organizations do the that to trick seniors into thinking they forgot to make a payment"

F*ck the NRA

It's a mass mailing... you people are idiots.

13. I kept getting mail from the America Legion to join

the state post. Finally I sent the dues in thinking I would help veterans. They then notified a local post I get a call from the local commander and he asked me who my sponsor was. I asked if I am a veteran why would I need a sponsor. I said why do I need a sponsor when you have sons of the Legion that never served and associate members that never served. But for me he wanted a DD214 and a sponsor. Without saying it he gave me the impression they wanted to be sure I was their kind of people if you know what I mean. Me not being a drinker I really had no interest in hanging out with a bunch of drunken veterans telling Army stories. So I never renewed my membership. **** the America Legion and the VFW.

That's everyone, you retard. SoL have to prove your relative was elegible. We want to make sure you aren't a lying POS poser.

15. I've never joined. I got my fill of the American Legion at Boy's State in 1974.

It was like a week-long Hitlerjugend camp. The AL was a right-wing organization in 1974 and still is.

I really hate these people.  :censored:

A veterans group thinks guns might be an attractive raffle prize to veterans? Who knew?

Yep. Had Dad not been an NRA member the NRA would not have his name and address. And late dues notices are reminders, not bills.

OP looks like long-banned DUmmy "NYC_SKP", wife looks like that Christine Blaisey Ford woman to me. If Bob joined a VFW chapter, it's probably #2521.

Different guy, though. IIRC, NYC_SKP lived in Aptos, just south of Santa Cruz, and was promoting Enviro-Nutsense. This guy lives in SoCal.
