That's both tragic, and a beautiful quote. I may sig that quote of yours. I also became a fanatic. Hate may be a powerful word/thing, but it courses through my veins every time I hear of killings overseas by the radical bastards. Like today they target 20 something innocent people in Afghanistan. They need to be wiped off the planet. Period. I'm with you in that sentiment.

Hate is'nt a bad thing. It was our hatred of the Axis in WWII that led us to victory.

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt, too, CM.  I can't imagine what that day was like for those who had loved ones there.

True. We didn't sit around worrying about "reaching out" to the Axis powers, or trying to "understand the roots of their anger." We just did what needed to be done: we defeated them.

This is the big deal.

I know it doesn't count for much, but your aunt has whatever prayers I can offer.

Sorry to hear about your aunt's passing on 9/11. I extend my deepest and utmost condolences to your family. 9/11 is really a tragic and sad event for America and the world.  :( :bawl:

You said it! Sometimes hatred IS the appropriate response. I hate the Islamic enemy--and Islam the political doctrine--with a passion and, not only would I never deny it, I consider it entirely normal.

H5! I seldom see, even among conservatives, these common sense points made. Would you also agree that precision bombing has lost us the demoralizing/terror effect (really, there's no other word) that far less precise strategic bombing wrought on the German population in WWII? If the Moslem civilian populations of our enemies suffered as the Germans did in WWII...this war might be over much mroe quickly.

IMO, there's such a thing as too much civilization, and maybe too much technology, or at least cases where that technology is a drawback, and not a help.

Some people are just too forgiving.

You are right, too much technology is not a good thing. I think people are becoming way too dependent with technology. I think modern society in general is not good for mental health.

I agree. Western society depends almost entirely on computers and a powerful enough cyber attack (something China could do) or EMP (something terrorists could do with a freighter, a SCUD and a nuclear warhead) could send us back to the stone age.
Those who would trade their liberty for temporary security will get neither. --Benjamin Franklin.

I'm not that military savvy in terms of knowledge, but you really think terrorists could launch an EMP burst that devastating on us??

Remember the power outage that took out most of the northeast a few years ago? The one that was blamed on one line going down in Ohio or somewhere.

I don't see the big deal, they'll likely end up building it anyway. They might as well.

That's because you are fatally ignorant about the threat that faces our country and our civilization.

It rings a tiny bell. I'll have to look it up when I get the chance, but if an EMP  burst took out that much power, they're more powerful than I had initially thought.

That wasn't caused by an EMP burst, just a cascade effect.  However, think about what a few small targeted attacks could do just to our electrical grid.

CM...I am so very sorry to hear about your Aunt. Prayers for you and your family.

Thank you again for your service. You had several reasons for "signing that 'blank check' ", didn't you?

God Bless.

Looks like ol Bloomy might have been better off worrying about how to get the streets cleared after a snowstorm rather than salt in restaurant food and building mosques.

New York's blizzard is one of the worst on top of a Christmas weekend. They really screwed up and this is really major in the streets and airports.

Personally I am against a building of any organized religion going up near ground zero. I would rather see a park, with a gazebo and a small pond or a small zoo, that everyone can enjoy

The plans call for 2 large lakes where the original twin towers were, gardens, a memorial museum along with the new towers.

to me , that is much more appropriate. I hope they go thru with that
