Political Economy Research Institute, University of Massachusetts, Amherst

The Toxic 100 Air Polluters index identifies the top U.S. air polluters among the world's largest corporations. The index relies on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Risk Screening Environmental Indicators (RSEI), which assesses the chronic human health risk from industrial toxic releases. The underlying data for RSEI is the EPA’s Toxics Release Inventory (TRI), in which facilities across the U.S. report their releases of toxic chemicals. In addition to the amount of toxic chemicals released, RSEI also includes the degree of toxicity and population exposure. The Toxic 100 Air Polluters ranks corporations based on the chronic human health risk from all of their U.S. polluting facilities.

    http://data.rtknet.org/tox100/2010/index.php?search=yes&database=t1&detail=1&datype=T&reptype=a&company1=&company2=13671&chemfac=fac&advbasic=bas

    Koch Industries
    Rank in Toxic 100: 10
Rank among all TRI companies: 14
    Air releases 2006 (lbs): 33,560,949
    Incineration transfers 2006 (lbs): 1,938,445

Absolutely unacceptable.  What do I need to do to get the Koch Brothers to the #1 position?  :-)
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened."

I bet you 2 weeks ago none of these goons even knew who the Koch brothers were. Now they are the greatest evil since Teh Rove and Chimpy.

They've been talking about the Koch brothers for several months.  I thought they were just another figment of their imagination until recently.  I still see no difference between what the Koch's do and what Soros does , except for the fact that Soros is a cocksucker that wants to oversee the fall of the US.

The Koch brothers and George Soros are two sides of the same coin. Both are fabulously wealthy business moguls. The Koch brothers love America and are  promoting actions they honestly believe will help her prosper. Soros hates America, and is promoting actions he honestly believes will help destroy her. Neither the Koch brothers nor Soros are motivated by personal profit, just political ideology. Democrat beliefs are in line with Soros, so they hate the Koch brothers.

A couple of them have mentioned them for awhile now but, just the past couple of days all of them have latched on to their hatred of these people they didn't even know existed before all this crap started. I bet you not one of them even researched the Koch brothers to figure out why they should hate them. They just saw some other DUmmy talking bad about them and before long they too were joining in.

I think Soros is somewhat motivated also by profit, and has had his hands in on several economic collapses before. He has been around and active for a long time.

I kind of suspect it isn't so much profit as it is he gets his jollies from causing chaos. Then again I keep hearing all the things about Soros is just lies made up by Beck.

I had heard of Soros long before I heard of Glenn Beck, so someone must have been spreading the "lies" before Beck.

If I read this correctly, the majority of the "problem" is with one Georgia Pacific location:

http://data.rtknet.org/tox100/index.php?search=yes&database=t1&detail=1&datype=T&reptype=a&company2=13671&company1=&parent=&chemfac=fac&advbasic=bas

Koch Industries bought Georgia Pacific in 2005, and I've found several articles about the use of old data for these rankings, and PERI admitted in a response to Kodak that the latest data they had was from 2002.  So already looking like a hit piece, not real news...

Then I ran across this:
Quote
Recycling
GP Harmon Recycling, a division of Georgia-Pacific, is one of the top suppliers of recovered paper in the world.  In 2008, Harmon managed nearly 7 million tons of recovered paper worldwide. Approximately 3.4 million tons were used in Georgia-Pacific facilities in 2008 while the rest was sold to other users of recovered paper. GP Harmon Recycling also manages other recyclable materials, including aluminum and plastic.http://www.kochind.com/EHS/forest.aspx

Now, seriously, is there any chance the left is hitting out at Koch for political reasons and ignoring the actual overall work of their industries?  (Like they believe Al Gore's global warming crap despite his over-the-top personal energy use while ignoring Pres. Bush's very green Texas home?) Nah, there is no way our intelligent, educated, ethical left would ignore facts to score political points.  Right?

The Koch brothers are also involved in oil exploration and refining, as well as the petrochemical industry.  SO, IOW, they may not be "Big Oil", but they are "Oil", and that's all a DUmmie has to hear to get a wad in their panties.

Oil (big or otherwise) = Evil
Koch brothers = Big Business = Industrial/military complex (or some such shit) = Good for America = Evil

Everybody knows that.

Political Economy Research Institute = communist front group.

Anytime you see the words: Political, Justice, Economic, Social, Progress, People(s), ... in an organizations name, there is a 98% chance of that group being a communist front group.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Gee and here I thought I was the only one.  It seems to me Beck did a radio show that was broadcast on a low power AM station around that I could only sporadically catch at work.  Now where did I first hear of Georgie boy?  Darn I will have to ponder on that but I am pretty certain it wasn't on Beck.

I am guessing it was in the WSJ.............you know when he was destroying other countries curriencies?  Yep I think that was probably it.
