Posts like the one bijou found IMHO were "Street Cred" ones that he almost
had to make. That one for example was easy to throw together and sure to
attract tons of attention from the general members and more importantly,
the DU Mgt.

He pushed the limit there better than anyone. His luck just ran out.

Either way, tasteless.  I mean, I feel like I'm almost violating my father's privacy talking about him here, and I sure as SHIT wouldn't post any pictures of him in his current state.  When I was in AZ last, I took my camera.  It never came out of the bag, simply because I didn't want to remember him like that, and I wouldn't post him like that on any message board, period.

I vaguely remember those posts from OMC. I do remember thinking that he was a guy crazy with grief who was watching his wife die. I think they had two little girls?? Details are fuzzy to me...

Anyway, I gave him the benefit of the doubt due to the grief. But looking back, I'm not so sure I would have posted those kinds of pictures in his shoes. At best, it's just a guy insane with grief trying to excercise some control over this demon called cancer. At worst, it's exploiting the situation for whatever ends. I have mixed emotions still...

Make no mistake, OMC was a true-blue Democrat and left of center, and by no means a Conservative.  But, he did have a decent grasp on 'Real' reality instead of living in Bizarro World like the majority of DUers, and he would often yield to the temptation to 'Speak truth to stupid'...a practice which inevitably leads to the Big Granite Cookie on DU.  He must have totally pissed off someone who donates real money this time.

Fortunately someone had the good sense to remove the photo from this archived thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=105&topic_id=6970004&mesg_id=6970004   I did question my memory on the posting, but this is indeed where I recall it being.  He apparently put some of her going through her first chemo on YouTube, but at least in that instance she was able to give her consent.
