I think they really want to believe it and choose to ignore the flag's history. Delusion isn't an uncommon commodity for these types. Of course, many of this group are truly racist.

The racists are the members of the democrat party. Bunch of ****in Yankees.

My Great grandfather, who was nothing but a dirt farmer and never had more than 2 cents to rub together, fought with the Army of TN against the army of the northern aggressors. Slavery had nothing to do with it. They weren't going to be told by a distant King politician how to live their life. After hacking out a living in a region that nobody else wanted, them mountain folk just wanted to live their life in peace.

Personally I don't care if they think a Confederate flag is racist or not. It seems to be their problem, not mine.

What unit?  I had an ancestor fight with the 60th N.C. Inf. Regt.  He was killed in Murfressboro.

I believe TN had three Army corps. Unsure of the unit. My grandmother, who raised me, had some pics of him. I never met him. I remember my great grandmother. She was 100+ when she died. They lived in the NE TN. The Appalachian region. My father and uncles knew more than I did. I wished I would have asked questions while they were alive.

When I get settled in TN for good, I'm going to find out all the details.

Just an ot but as you guys know I am from Memphis.  We have a park in downtown Memphis with a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest.  "They" have tried so many times to get that statue removed and the park renamed.  So far, they have sucked at it. :tongue:

Ya know in AL Robert E Lee's b-day is still a celebrated holiday.  When I was a county employee we got it and MKL as personal days.

Traitortots and all of his little ****buddies are the ones who are out there cheering every time Hezbollah, La Raza or any other dipshit organization burns the American flag, while wringing their panties in a knot if they THINK someone is looking cross-eyed at a person "of color" or "of religion" as long as it's the Muslim religion and not the Christian one.  Dammit, all of those DUmpmonkies can go fling shit at each other; I'm an equal opportunity loather of all of them: vile, disgusting, arrogant, know-it-alls who know absolutely nothing.

Used to be a holiday in Virginia. Pretty sad when the man can't even get any respect on his home ground because of the stupid libs in Northern Virginia.

I've always had great admiration for General Lee, and sure did hate to see him portrayed by that creep Martin Sheen in "Gettysburg". Seemed like a sacrilege.

Robert Duvall did a lovely job in Gods and Generals. Part of it was filmed on his land in Virginia. He is also a descendant of Lee's.
I never envied Lee for the decision that he had to make. They say he paced the floor at Arlington all night.

Forrest started the KKK as an organization intended to run off carpet baggers from the north.  When it devolved into a racist organization, he attempted to disband it and was barred for life for doing so.  People who want his statue torn down over his KKK ties are simply idiots who don't take the time to research history.

Forrest was one Hell of a combat general, he actually joined as a (very well-aged) private and rose to flag officer in very short order...a complete tiger in battle, but cool-headed nonetheless, and a bona fide hero of the Confederacy.  He was also involved in the slave trade before the War, which is another reason he is unpopular with some.
